Burton Method Rocker Snowboard 2011: In search of the next level in weightlessness and performance, Burton gave their R&D team free reign to explore exotic materials and constructions never before considered for snowboarding. When the smoke cleared, the Burton Method Rocker Snowboard was born and introduced the lightest composite board matrix to date. Pushing the envelope even further, this year’s addition of Flying V™ means the best of rocker and camber combined for a ride that’s unlike anything you’ve felt before it.
Flex Rating: 5 (1 Soft-10 Stiff) Take flight with V-Rocker’s next evolution. A premium blend of camber and rocker performance, Flying V™ offers the best of both worlds. Rocker overall, including between and outside your feet, enhances playfulness and float through pow. Underneath your feet, subtle camber zones combines with Frostbite Edges, EGD, and The Channel to focus edge-control for crisp snap, added pop, and power through turns. Twin flex is perfectly symmetrical from tip to tail for a balanced ride that’s equally versatile regular or switch, frontside or backside.
UltraMeth™ construction represents a paradigm shift in high-performance and the lightest composite matrix board construction to date. Blending unconventional design with the latest in aerospace technology, UltraMeth™ analyzes every element from edges, core, fiberglass, even the shape of the sidewalls in terms of function, weight-savings, and performance. With a seemingly paradoxical mix of featherweight construction and premium rideability, the result is a board that not only challenges convention, but also the law of physics. The Alumafly™ Core is snowboarding’s first tip-to-tail aluminum honeycomb core. 90% air by volume, Alumafly™ represents the perfect union of high-grade honeycomb technology and EGD™. Get metallic pop, explosive response, and untapped acceleration no pulp-based honeycomb core could ever provide. Multizone EGD™ wood grain is perpendicular to the core adjacent to The Channel- the area from which a rider’s power emanates-to enhance carving precision, response, and durability.
Directional: the classic, most versatile snowboard shape, designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the tail while still giving you plenty of float, flow, and control to rip any terrain or snow condition. The tapered tip and tail thickness of Pro-Tip™ reduces swing weight for easier mobility and float.
The infusion of S2 fiberglass results in envelope-pushing performance and increased strength in the lightest composite matrix board construction to date. The Carbon I Beam backbone increases pop and longitudinal snap. The Methlon Base has major speed. The secret to speed is Teflon-quite possibly Earth’s slickest substance. Highly durable and low-maintenance, Methlon creates blistering speed that lasts all season. Edges beneath your bindings extend out slightly for tremendous edge-hold on hard, icy conditions. Powerful when you need them, playful when you don’t, Frostbite Edges are hungry for hard-pack while remaining ever forgiving in softer conditions. The streamlined, ultra-minimized sidewall design of Slimrail shaves weight without sacrificing edge-hold, strength, or rideability.
