Community Impact

background image

We believe all young people deserve the opportunity to discover their passions and achieve their full potential. We invest in programs and partnerships that help kids build positive skills and mindsets in the communities where we live, work and play. Millions of young people, especially young people of color, face an opportunity gap, with limited access to the support systems that lead to possibility. We focus evo’s giving and volunteerism on organizations that serve youth in the opportunity gap, and particularly organizations committed to getting kids active, outdoors, and engaged in a positive mentoring relationship. We invite you to join us in the work of closing the gap, and opening the door to community, and to adventure.

Our approach to philanthropy is Grounded in Equity, Built on Trust and Invites Participation.

We are working to create a more just and sustainable outdoor and environmental movement by shifting resources to and build power with Black, Indigenous, and Communities of Color. We trust our partners to identify the best solutions and invest in them. We believe evo is part of a larger ecosystem working to collectively build a just and thriving community. We invite collaboration and deep connection.

Youth In Focus

We believe the arts help us connect with ourselves, our values and identity with our community. We are proud to be in partnership with Youth in Focus, whose mission is to prepare the next generation of creative thinkers to meet the emerging needs of a global society by amplifying teen voice through photography and arts education. Youth in Focus values art as a powerful medium of change to create a healthy, vibrant, more equitable, and just society for all. In 2021, we supported a paid internship program for seven students from the Creative Career Cohort in partnership with our photo team and featured their work in our Seattle store gallery. This past summer, we featured works from 7 students from the Creative Career Cohort in our Seattle store. We also matched and donated register round-up contributions for the month of August.

Work With Us

People often asked why I started evo and when it started, and I’ve always held that the path of our business is intertwined in our personal journeys. The reality is that in a sense, the inspiration for evo existed long before 2001. My Uncle Jack introduced me to skiing in grade school, and I’ve been doing everything that I can to participate ever since. Selling gear as a little kid provided the means to buy lift tickets and access this amazing experience, and for over 20 years now, evo really has been a story of one thing leads to another. From hustling to buy a lift ticket, to eventually getting the chance to chase winters worldwide, evo has opened doors to a world of sport and culture that I could have never imagined. As we move ahead, the desire to share that same experience drives our site, our stores and most of all, our evoTrip adventure travel vacations – our opportunity to introduce customers to these amazing sports and culture experiences around the world.
