Access the backcountry with this fundamental splitboard & ski touring course
Discover the keys to a whole new world of backcountry access. Get ready to revel in the freedom of touring uphill and riding untracked lines. This course is designed for intermediate resort skiers and snowboarders who are new to touring and want to be introduced to the basics of backcountry travel.
Over the course of two days, you’ll get hands-on experience with uphill travel techniques, transitions, and terrain management. Our expert instructors will help take the guesswork out of getting started so you can build confidence. You will learn how your backcountry gear works, how to use climbing skins, how to navigate terrain with a group, and how to transition smoothly between touring and riding.
Course Prerequisites:
· Intermediate resort alpine skiing and/or riding skills; you can confidently and easily ski/ride a blue run inbounds.
· Good physical fitness; you can hike uphill in deep snow for one or two hours with short breaks.
· No avalanche experience necessary. Participants will bring (or rent from ULLR Backcountry) their gear (beacon, shovel, probe) and will become familiar with its use during the course.
