Austin Smith lets his riding speak for itself. Originally from Bellingham, WA, Austin moved with his family to Bend, Oregon as a teenager.
Austin quickly made a name for himself, capturing the closing segment from Mack Dawg's "We're People Too" and earning himself both Rookie of
The Year and Video Part of The Year Honors.
After gaining sponsorships from Nike, Nitro, Smith, and DaKine Austin had a year plagued with knee injuries. The injuries gave him time to reflect,
where he realized how important taking care of his body was. This realization led him and close friend Brian Fox to search for an alternative to energy drinks.
What started out as simply scribing "Drink Water" with a sharpie on their boards quickly became a movement embraced by all action sports participants
who decided energy drink weren't for them.
Stickers and shirts were made for friends and quickly demand grew to the point where they were selling them and donating proceeds to water.org.
In addition Austin and the Drink Water crew host the Rat Race at High Cascade every summer. Its banked slalom/Helltrack course draws some of the
world's top riders which and raised nearly $30k for clean drinking water.
