Volkl Shiro Jr Skis - Youth 2012: Like the adult Shiro, the Volkl Junior Shiro model features Extended Low Profile Rocker and a full wood core with vertical sidewall construction. With a new shape of 132-100-116, it’s offered in lengths 143, 153, and 163, creating a full size range, and a whole new paradigm for the young skier who wants to ski big mountain, powder conditions.
Extended Low Profile (ELP) Full Rocker gives the skier all the benefits of added maneuverability in soft snow while also delivering smooth, graceful arcs on groomed terrain. By matching the flex and sidecut with the full rocker (long, gradual bend from tip to tail) profile, the skier gains full, uninterrupted edge contact. The more you put the ski on edge, the more effective the edge becomes. The resulting smoothness and predictability is truly uncanny.
Volkl’s longest-running construction, Power Construction utilizes traditional vertical sidewalls and a torsion box internal layup. Used in racing skis as well as all the freeskiing models, this versatile, proven construction provides tremendous grip and stability when combined with the Sensorwood core.
Multi-Layer Wood Core has two different densities of wood. In the binding attachment area, a dense, Ash core is used, while in the rest of the ski, the core is Poplar. The more dense wood creates secure screw retention and stability, while the softer poplar section allows for resilience and snap. The flex pattern can be tailored to each ski model to match the desired performance characteristics.
14.9m @ 143cm, 15.3m @ 153cm, 20.3m @ 163cm, 132/100/116 (all sizes)
We recommend a brake width that is equal to the ski waist width and at most 15 mm wider.
