Originally crafted out of the ultra-versatile Gotama mold, the Volkl Nunataq Skis inherit this versatility with the added benefit of touring friendly features. Volkl builds the Nunataq using an Xtra Light Wood Core and a flat tail for uphill performance and speed, without skimping on downhill performance, either. At 107 mm underfoot, the Nunataq is a beast in the backcountry, with a fully rockered profile and vertical sidewalls that absolutely destroy anything from powder to refrozen chunder. Mounted with anything from tech bindings to alpine, the Nunataq excels at making you happy wherever your adventures take you.

Rocker Type
ELP Full Rocker – Völkl Full rocker is a smooth, gradual bend from tip to tail, with matching sidecut and a symmetrical flex pattern. The Extended Low Profile (ELP) gives skiers all the benefits of extra maneuverability in soft snow while delivering smooth, sexy arcs on groomed terrain. The matching flex and sidecut on the full rocker gives you full, uninterrupted edge contact. The more the ski is on edge the more effective that edge becomes, and the resulting smoothness and predictability is uncanny.

Xtra Light Core – Multi-layer core of very lightweight wood with channels milled out of the bottom for additional weight savings. Denser ash is used in the binding mount area for extra pullout strength, while lighter poplar is used in the tip and tail.

Power Construction – Construction utilizes traditional vertical sidewalls and a torsion box internal layup. Used in racing skis as well as all the freeskiing models, this versatile, proven construction provides tremendous grip, stability, and a smooth ride.
Tough Box Construction – Völkl protects the goods (in this case the Multi-Layer wood core) with a composite and fiberglass sheath for resiliance, durability and snap.

Rocker Rocker (also called reverse-camber) is just as it sounds – camber turned upside down. Rocker skis have a side profile with a smooth downward curvature and a contact point at the middle of the ski. Rocker skis excel in deep powder. This profile provides the skis with less tip and tail hang up to prevent from catching edges and allows the skis to initiate turns extremely quickly. This profile doesn’t perform as well in icy conditions or on harder snow but if you spend lots of time in deep, untracked snow and like a more playful ski, Rocker is a great choice.
