From long, mellow approaches to spicy hop-turns in the no fall zone, the K2 Wayback 96 Skis shine when you're miles from the trailhead. Don't let their featherlight construction fool you, a Carbon and Titanal infused build ensures consistent and predictable performance when you inevitably hit challenging conditions like wind scoured sastrugi and bulletproof sun crust. If all goes well and your snow dances hit the mark, a 96 mm waist coupled with ample rocker and taper mean you can surf pow with the best of em. However you look at it, the Wayback 96 skis are a true touring quiver of one.
All-Terrain Rocker – Designed for all ability levels, All-Terrain Rocker adds versatility and ease in all snow conditions. This profile features an elevated tip and tail for variable and soft snow performance, as well as camber underfoot for power, energy, and edgehold in firmer conditions.
Tapered Tip/Tail – A design feature that shifts the contact points with the snow towards the midsole of the ski, reducing deflection in the tip and easing turn release in the tail.
Paulownia – Lively, flexible wood with excellent weight to strength ratio.
Ti Spyne – A Titanal laminate developed specifically for K2 touring skis that dramatically increases dampening and predictability on lightweight carbon constructions, while enhancing stability and edge grip.
Carbon Overdrive – Top secret construction using carbon fiber to make a ski even more awesome than if it did not have carbon fiber.
Snowphobic Topsheet – Hydrophobic, snow-shedding topsheet material that helps prevent snow from sticking to the tops of your skis.
Skin Grommets – Reinforced grommets in the tip and tail of the ski that both accommodate K2's pre-cut skins with a Z-clip attachment, and can be used with K2/BCA shovels to build a rescue sled.
We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.
