A big mountain charger with the heart of a sea otter, the Faction Candide 4.0 Skis are capable of stomping the biggest lines and baddest airs on any mountain (just watch a few Candide vids) but leave room for the jibby side of your personality to come out and play. The Candide 4.0 features Faction's Multi-Dimension Sidecut with FLATSPOT™, which in truth isn't exactly flat but rather a larger radius in the center of the ski to make performance more consistent regardless of skier positioning or mount point. As with other Candide pro-models, the 4.0 uses a hybrid core developed by B-Comp of Switzerland made of Balsa, Poplar and flax fiber. If you live where it snows a lot, or go there to ski and don't believe tricks are just for kids, the Candide 4.0 is your ski.
Rocker / Camber / Rocker – 600 mm tip rocker, 1 mm camber, 590 mm tail rocker
Flex: 8 / 10 – (1 = Soft, 10 = Stiff)
Multi-Dimension Sidecut with FLATSPOT™ – A longer radius in the binding area give great riding performance regardless of mount position. The "flat spot" connects to a shorter radius for playful turns and a longer radius at the tip and tail for high speed stability.
Directional True Twin – There is some tail taper in this ski, but the design is meant to encourage switch skiing and jibbing.
Hybrid Balsa-Poplar-Flax Core – Balsa is a sandy-colored softwood with exceptional strength for its light weight. Reinforce the super lightweight Balsa with earthy-colored, robust Flax fibre plus Poplar strips and you have a durable wood core that holds an edge like skis twice the weight. During the drying process, cells of water in the Balsa wood are driven off, leaving behind a strong core with no excess weight.
Titanal Binding Plate – When you're on a day-long touring trip in the backcountry, you need to rely on your gear. Titanal reinforcement plates are laid up on top of the lightweight cores ensuring that your binding screws hold. This one-piece design fits alpine and touring bindings, adding trustworthy durability to these lightweight cores.
Full Strength Sidewall Construction with Microcap – Sandwich sidewall construction for power and edgehold, with a topsheet that wraps around and meets the sidewall for durability.
Die-Cut P-Tex 3000
Anti-Scratch Textured Topsheet
