If you're venturing into the backcountry, you better believe you're going to be skiing pow. After all, everyday is a pow day if you look hard enough, right? For the powder-oriented backcountry tourist, Black Crows created the Anima Freebird Skis, offering the same aggressive freestyle performance and float as the regular Anima, except significantly lighter. With a Paulownia-Poplar wood core and carbon/fiberglass layers the Black Crows Anima Freebird Skis are the ultimate pow-poaching weapon. You can sit around dreaming about it, or you can slap a pair of touring binders on these big-mountain guns and start skinning -- there are spines to be slain!
Double Beak | 23% Tip Rocker / 60% Camber / 17% Tail Rocker – Double Beak creates a ski that releases easily in the tip and tail. The central axis of the ski is dynamic, creating a ski that controls speed and trajectory very well in both powder and park riding thanks to it's easy pivoting style. This profile's balanced flex creates a stable, maneuverable ski that is nonetheless explosive when needed. A Double Beak ski benefits from being driven laterally in a centered stance, rather than forward through the tip of the ski.
Hexagonal Tip
Directional Rockered Tail – Increases maneuverability and versatility without sabotaging the ski's responsiveness and alpine character.
Freebird Gene 2 Core – Torsion box construction ideal for wider skis with tip to tail Paulownia/Poplar wood paired with triaxial and biaxial carbon laminates ensures optimal weight reduction while maintaining a lively downhill feel.
Carbon & Fiberglass Layers
Semi Cap – Durable construction that retains the edge power of sidewall construction while limiting chipping of the topsheet at the tip and tail of the ski.
ABS Sidewalls – Durability and shock absorption across all snow and terrain.
Printed Base – Stone ground 34 times for a smooth, fast ride.
Freebird Edges – Designed for touring, these lightweight edges are precise and durable.
We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.
