It's what we've all been waiting for: the all-new Women's Nitro Alternator Snowboard, designed by pro rider Hailey Langland ready to ride in the Natural Selection Tour. This directional board is purpose-built for the kind of riding Natural Selection demands—think massive drops, technical lines, and powerful turns.
With a responsive 7/10 flex and a full camber profile, the Alternator delivers the stability and edge hold needed to charge hard in variable terrain, and the pop required for some freestyle creativity along the way. It features a tighter sidecut radius between the feet for quick, snappy turns, and a larger radius at the tip and tail for smoother transitions and powerful, drawn-out carves. This blend provides the best of both worlds—precision control to pivot fast, and the stability needed to lay into wide, flowing turns. Lady freeriders, get excited—this board is going to be a game-changer.
The men's Nitro Alternator has been out for years, so to get a women's specific version is pretty phenomenal. The Alternator will be one of the more aggressive and responsive boards in the Nitro Women's lineup: built to handle fast, hardcore riding in off-piste terrain.
Nitro's Dual Degressive sidecut combines the best of both worlds offering a smaller radius sidecut in the center of the board and a larger sidecut at the tip and tail. This offers a loose and playful underfoot feel that excels both in tight turns and wide-open carves.
Also worth highlighting is the Reflex Core Profile, which thins out the core between the bindings for increased torsional flex—offering smoother, more controlled turns no matter the terrain. Paired with Carbon Tape and the ultralight Powerlite Core, this board delivers a snappy, high-response ride that’s built for riders who like to go fast, send big, and charge full throttle from top to bottom.

The Nitro Alternator is an absolute ripper, packed with features that make it feel powerful and responsive. I rode the 149cm, and it felt like the perfect size for me. If I were someone more in-between sizes, I’d definitely size up—this board has a slightly shorter effective edge compared to many women’s freeride boards, so if anything it will ride a little short.
The Alternator shines exactly where it is made to shine: off-piste in chunder or small amounts of powder, in steep terrain, through trees, and going fast. I was impressed with how well it handled deeper powder too— the shape and setback make it feel surprisingly capable, but once the snow stacks up past six inches or so, I’d personally still reach for a dedicated powder board.
It felt stiffer than its 7/10 rating to me, I'd put it closer to an 8.5. Before riding it, I expected it to feel similar to the Jones Flagship or the Never Summer Lady FR, but surprisingly, it actually felt stiffer than both. This extra stiffness provided excellent control at high speeds, but I really needed to fully load and engage the board to unlock its pop. It’s not the board I’d choose for park laps or cruising with the kids at slower speeds—it’s built for aggressive, high-performance riding.
On groomers, it carves smoothly and stays stable at high speeds with zero chatter. However, in icy conditions, it seems to lack the edge tech of some other brands, making it harder to really grip and hold an edge over ice.
Overall, this board is a top choice for the hard-charging woman who thrives off-piste, rides fast, and is always pushing her limits to keep progressing.
Excellent control at high speeds.
A great sidecut to make both tight turns and larger carves.
Handles well in powder for being a full camber board.
Lacks edge tech to dig into icy groomers.
Can take a lot of effort to unlock the pop.
Not an easy ride for beginners.
The Alternator is a true freeride machine, built for advanced to expert riders who spend more time off-piste than on. It’s made for those whose idea of freestyle is dropping cliffs and charging big lines—not necessarily hunting for side hits or cruising the mountain with a playful vibe. It may not be for park rats or those sticking to the mellow green & blue groomers, but rather it's for the hard-charging ladies out there shredding the sidecountry & backcountry, carving down couloirs, flying down bowls, and taking on the mountain with fierce confidence, constantly pushing the limits to keep progressing.
Bottom line: this board rips—hard, harder, and hardest. Built with the intensity of the Natural Selection Tour in mind, it’s no surprise it thrives in serious terrain. It’s stable and ultra-responsive at high speeds, effortlessly weaves through tight trees, and stays smooth and chatter-free the whole way down. For advanced to expert female riders who live for off-piste lines and want to keep pushing their limits, this board is an absolute standout.
