K2 HellBent Skis + Marker Griffon Schizo Bindings 2011: The K2 HellBent Skis are the infamous ski that started the “Fat Twin” revolution. The 2011 K2 HellBent Ski’s nouveau super-fat fluff floating 132mm waist and Powder Rocker Technology provides unrivaled floatation in the deepest conditions and makes switch and regular pow landings easy as pie. Not just a pow ski, the K2 HellBent Skis give you the ability to nicely carve your way down to the bottom or back to the lift which makes it the ideal ski for ragers such as Andy Mahre, Sean Pettit and you.
Unlike other categories in the K2 line, the twin tips are designed to perform both forward and switch. Powder Rocker – 50% Rocker, 50% Camber. Designed for deep snow, the tip has the most elevation and the longest measurement of rocker and offers skiers a “surfy” feel with enhanced soft-snow performance. The camber region still exists to ensure edge-hold on firmer conditions.
The new Twin Tip Specific construction of Twin Tech increases the durability of sidewall skis. A traditional sidewall construction produces a 90 degree angle where the top material and sidewall meet. The Twin Tech construction actually rolls the top material into the sidewall reducing the angle that is prone to abuse. K2 uses ABS sidewalls because of the dense characteristics and impact toughness that not only aid in the direct transmission of power but also make it very durable and resistant to moisture
Marker Griffon Schizo Bindings: This binding is made for the modern day skier who needs to kill it on fluffy pow days but knows that every day isn’t a powder Nirvana, so the Marker Griffon Schizo Bindings conveniently come with 3cm of fore and aft adjustment that Marker calls “Royal Technology”. Switch it up when you get that sudden craving to hit the pipe (we’re jonesin’ for it right now), and with a screw in the front of the toe piece, you can make those adjustments on the hill, without even having to step out of the binding. Now how’s that for an enabler? Enjoy ultimate versatility with the Marker Griffon Schizo Bindings. Add a DIN range of 4-12, and you’ll be able to dial in your standing position no matter the urge.
Use: Powder: 666%, Park: 10%. Triaxial braiding in the core consists of braiding fiberglass around a wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control. The patented machine interlocks strands of fiberglass around a milled fir/aspen wood core. This unique method produces skis with great torsional strength, while maintaining the lively flex patterns of the wood core.
