Can you tell us about your work and influences?

I started drawing cartoon characters and abstract figures that represented myself and the people around me. My work is flavored with familial spices, which represent the African diaspora, past, present, and future.

I explore patterned line work in contrast with floral and African diasporic figures. I consider the paintings as live charms, reflections of my energy and general everyday feelings, each piece a product of the present. My wearable paintings are extensions of my energy, transformed into armor of celebration for the people.
