Eric is an athlete, artist, designer and good friend of evo. He’s worked within the snow industry for the last two decades, creating physical and digital expressions that reflect his surroundings and experiences. In 2020, he took on one of his most ambitious creative projects yet: co-launching a new ski and snowboard brand named Season.

How did you get started as an artist?

My family is filled with artists and I grew up in the loamy forests in the foothills of Mount Hood, so from a young age I was motivated to create. As I grew older, I gained more experiences to pull inspiration from as well as opportunities to design product and make my mark. I’m a husband and father so I try to balance time by frequently taking note of sights and inspirations that can inform my creativity when I have a moment to draw or paint.

How has this past year influenced your work?

All of my efforts were focused on developing all aspects of Season Eqpt.; shaping and testing our products as well as producing imagery to promote the brand, most of which was done close to home on Mount Hood due to the pandemic. This really helped me re-connect with my local surroundings after spending decades on the road. While I spent less time in my art studio, I did work in a new medium I’d been thinking about for years and which I haven’t seen done yet. It’s a circular collage made up of various imagery around a common image in the middle. It features my home of Mount Hood in the center as a representation of the common connection we all share as winter season lovers. You can view it in the evo Portland and Seattle galleries now.
