Ride epic singletrack through Oaxaca’s rugged mountainscapes, soak in rich culture, and explore unforgettable trails with guides born and raised in the Sierra.

Join us for a six-day Oaxaca mountain bike adventure, powered by our partners & local guides at Oaxaca Bike Expeditions. This trip blends world-class riding with deep local connection, incredible food, and boutique accommodations. Access hand-built singletrack across the Sierra Norte above Oaxaca — from long, flowing descents and technical lines to remote trails linking mountain villages rarely seen by visiting riders. Pedal past giant agave plants and pine trees, with sweeping views over the mountains & valley below. Daily shuttles maximize ride time, while your expert guides tailor each day to your skill and energy levels.

Off the bike, Oaxaca’s culture shines just as brightly. Evenings are spent enjoying unforgettable regional cuisine, mezcal and lucha libre (both optional), and time to unwind at the Victoria Hotel’s delightful outdoor pool. With seamless logistics, small groups, and an emphasis on both riding quality and the overall experience, this trip captures what makes Oaxaca a truly top-notch mountain bike destination — equal parts adventure, culture, and comfort.

*Please note this trip is suitable for intermediate, advanced and expert mountain bikers. Rides are typically a total of ~20km per day, with 95% downhill, and 5% flat/uphill.

Area Information
Oaxaca & the Sierra Norte

Oaxaca is a place where deep history, vibrant culture, and unforgettable flavor come together — from colorful colonial streets and ancient Zapotec ruins to some of Mexico’s most celebrated cuisine. Rising above the city, the Sierra Norte mountains are home to one of the world’s most extensive mountain bike trail networks, with hundreds of kilometers of hand-built singletrack weaving through pine forests, high-alpine ridgelines, and remote mountain villages. The riding is defined by long, flowing descents, technical rock gardens, natural features, and ever-changing terrain that rewards confident intermediate and advanced riders, making Oaxaca a true bucket-list destination for mountain bikers seeking both adventure and soul.

FAQ
FAQ
  • Is my trip guaranteed to run?
No, please note there is a minimum number of guests required for this trip to run. Please wait to make travel arrangements until you have received confirmation from evoTrip.
  • I’m ready to book. What next?
To secure your spot, you can either pay the full amount now online or contact Customer Care at 1.866.386.1590 if you prefer to only pay your $570 per person deposit. Note that regardless of paying full payment or deposit at time of booking, we will consider $570 to be a non-refundable deposit in accordance with our terms and conditions (this can be used on a future trip if notified at least 60 days prior to departure). Full payment is due 60 days prior to departure.
  • What skill/experience level is required for this trip?
This trip is recommended for intermediate (and above) mountain bikers. An intermediate mountain biker has been riding regularly for 2 years or more, is comfortable tackling moderately steep singletrack with loose rocks or roots, can climb and descend with control, and feels confident on trails with some technical features like small drops and berms. Laps will be shuttled, and most of the riding will be downhill.
  • What are the accommodations and cuisine like?
Our accommodations for all five nights are at Hotel Victoria, a three-star boutique hotel located 15 minutes walking distance from downtown Oaxaca. This is one of Oaxaca's best hotels! Each room will have 2 Queen beds, A/C, WiFi, phone, cable, television, hot/cold water, full ensuite bathroom, and living room. Daily buffet breakfast is included in your stay, as is access to all the amenities, including outdoor pool, bar with terrace, tennis courts, expansive gardens for yoga, and incredible, sweeping views. The food is a big part of the experience! With all meals included, prepare to taste the variety of flavors that make Oaxaca a top gourmet destination, from markets and local mountain food spots to world awarded restaurants downtown.
  • Can my dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Yes! Please let us know any dietary restrictions or allergies ahead of your trip and we will be happy to accommodate.
  • Can I choose my roommate?
Yes. If you have a roommate request, please let us know. By default, we will place two people of the same gender in a room with two beds.
  • What if I’m a solo traveler? Can I get my own room?
Yes, single rooms are available on a first come, first served basis for an additional fee of $300 USD. Please check in with evo Customer Care before booking if this will determine your participation.
  • What if I'm a solo traveler that would like a roommate but none are available?
If you are a solo traveler that would like a roommate, we do our best to pair you with another solo traveler of the same gender. However, if no roommate option is available and you must be assigned your own room, you will be asked to pay 50% of the single supplement to cover the cost of your room. In this case, as the single supplement is $300, you would be liable for $150 extra. Please note roommates are paired on a first come, first served basis, so the earlier you book the less likely you will be "forced" into a single room.
  • Can you tell me about flying with my bike? Are there shipping options?
It's easier than you think to fly with your bike, and this is what most choose to do (though if you'd prefer to rent, that is absolutely doable as well and you can see options in next question). The simplest way to travel with your bike is as sport luggage on the plane. We recommend checking with the airline for their specific policies. Oaxaca Bike Expeditions cannot receive bikes that are shipped by any shipping company. They have tools and pumps so you can assemble your bike.
  • What kind of bike rental options do you offer?
Your guides offer the option to rent a bike for $400. Offering includes Transition Spire, Transition Sentinal, and Transition Patrol, from size M to XL.
  • What is included in this trip?
This trip includes: Accommodations for 5 nights (2 riders per room); All the meals during the tour; 2 guides per group; Shuttle laps; Riding permits; Mechanical assistance; Hydration and snacks during rides; Pro photography; Official T-Shirt; Mezcaleria visit; Lucha libre ticket (if available and the group wishes to go)

  • What gear should I bring?
You will be sent a recommended packing list after booking.
  • Should I tip my guides?
Yes, guide/tour staff gratuity is not included in your trip package and is recommended if you enjoyed your experience.
  • Should I purchase travel insurance?
YES! While it is not required, we always recommend purchasing travel insurance for all trips. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement if you are forced to cancel your trip for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to cover medical help, emergency transport, theft and/or accidental damage while traveling. We recommend World Nomads.
  • What if I need to change or cancel my trip?
If you cannot or no longer wish to join your scheduled trip, we are offering the option to forward your deposit to a future evoTrip (at no cost) up to 60 days prior to departure date. However, if you need to cancel, the deposit for the trip is non-refundable and cancellations will be subject to a cancellation fee (see policy below). For this reason, we recommend purchasing travellers insurance, which will cover the cost of your trip in extenuating circumstances. All cancellations must be submitted to evo in writing, are effective as of the date we receive them according to our internal records, and will be subject to a cancellation fee as follows (amounts are per person and only apply to amount paid after the $1,000 non-refundable deposit amount): Cancellation 60 days or more prior to trip departure - Non-Refundable $1,000 Deposit charged. Cancellation between 30 and 59 days prior to trip departure - 50% of total booking cost charged. Cancellation less than 30 days prior to departure - 100% of total booking cost charged. Cancellation policy for custom trips may differ from these terms and will be communicated prior to booking. No refunds will be made if you voluntarily leave a trip for any reason after the trip has begun. The same applies if you leave a trip or cannot fully participate in a trip due to injury or illness. Refunds will be at the discretion of the Company if you are involuntarily forced to leave a trip for any reason. No refunds will be made for any accommodation, transport, sightseeing, meals or services not utilized.
