Learn how to fly fish, and get the low-down on why and how to do it by bicycle, all in the company of amazing women. Join us for a 2-day bikefishing school, or a 3-day bikefishing journey.

Let our partners at Swift Adventure Co. and Emerald Water Anglers guide you through this distinctively Pacific Northwest Experience.

Fly fishing and bicycles have something mesmerizing in common: both deepen our experiences in the great outdoors, challenging us to listen, look and intuit our surroundings in a way that brings us closer to the natural world. Come with us as we fuse our passions with a day of pedaling and casting on the outskirts of Seattle. We’re eager to share a full day of exploring winding roads and meandering rivers, honing our fishy senses, and escaping city life with you.

The 2-day school will teach you the skills you need to continue your bicycle and flyfishing journey, and the 3-day adventure is open to new and seasoned anglers alike. This trip is welcome to anyone who identifies as female as well as non-binary folks.

Itinerary
Please note there is no fixed itinerary, and you are free to choose your adventure. Below is a sample itinerary.
  • 1
    Day number 1
    Trip 1 (2-Day School):

Day 1: Meet your guides and the group near Rattlesnake Lake. From there we’ll bicycle above the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River with stops to get to know the essential gear for the bike-fishing fanatic and to nerd out on the ins-and-outs of hauling your travel fishing kit. Once we’re on the river, you’ll be guided through the fundamentals of fly fishing from the art of reading water down to getting a knack for casting with master guide, Kristen Bufe, from Emerald Water Anglers. Today and tomorrow, expect to be out between approximately 8am and 5pm.

Day 2: On day two, you’ll gather near Skykomish, WA, the gateway to creek fishing in our local mountains. There we’ll explore smaller water in the Cascade Range, where you can apply your new skills under the tutelage of your expert fishing guides.

Please note: this is not an overnight. It is 2 days of back-to-back moderate cycling and fly fishing instruction.

    Day number 2
    Trip 2 (3-Day Adventure):

Day 1: You’ll start your adventure by meeting your Swift Adventure Co. (SACo) and Emerald Water Anglers (EWA) guides at Swift Adventure Co. in Seattle, WA. From there we’ll pile in the SACo. adventure wagon and point toward the finest roads and water the Salish Sea Region has to offer. Once we establish camp, our expert fly fishing guide and women program director at EWA, Kristen Bufe, will walk us through the fundamentals of fly fishing from the art of reading water down to getting a knack for casting.

Day 2-3: Over the next couple days we will set out by bicycle, using van support when needed, to explore the fishy water of the PNW. Each evening will find us at a camp where we’ll relax together with delicious open-air meals and good times around a roaring fire to wrap up the day.

Fly Fishing in Western Washington

It doesn’t take too many miles from Seattle to get off-the-beaten path on a truly great “bikefishing” adventure. During the 2-day workshop, we will be exploring two different river systems in the Cascade Mountain Range, the iconic Snoqualmie River as well as smaller rivers near the town of Skykomish, WA - a region renowned for its steelhead fishing. During the 3-day adventure, we’ll explore the waterways of the Salish Sea Watershed - either Hood Canal on the eastern edge of the Olympic Peninsula or the Stillaguamish River near Camano Island.
