Take a guided powder tour of one of Colorado’s largest and absolute best ski resorts.

Spend 4 nights and 3 days skiing and riding Steamboat’s patented Champagne Powder ® with our partners at Mint Tours, then after each day stop by the slopeside après ski bars or head downtown and enjoy the ‘Boat’s relaxed ski-town vibe, with countless popular restaurants and bars rich in Western Colorado heritage.

Spanning across 4 peaks, Steamboat is one of the largest ski resorts in Colorado, boasting over 1200 hectares of intermediate to advanced terrain. Explore perfectly spaced trees off-piste, take a hike and ride some of the incredible backcountry on offer, or tackle chutes and gullies that live up to their double-black ratings. Steamboat also boasts perfectly manicured terrain parks, banked courses and an impressive 18 foot Superpipe.

To maximise time on-snow, you’ll stay at the Steamboat Grand – Steamboat’s flagship hotel featuring beautifully appointed guest rooms just 100 meters away from the ski lifts. And with your host Scott sharing his local knowledge of Steamboat’s ‘secret spots’ you can be confident of finding the best snow conditions each day.

With an annual snowfall of 314"/797cm it's fair to say conditions will be good from early season right through to spring in Steamboat. However, in December Steamboat typically peaks much earlier compared to other spots in Colorado, and it gets more dependable snowfall early. Then in February, the base is at its deepest with plenty of big storms hitting the mountains making for a ton of terrain to cover only three days.

Trip Planning

Steamboat sits at an elevation of 6,900 feet. Winter weather can be extreme, with daily highs rarely reaching above the freezing point (and that’s before wind chill factored in). Snowfall is heaviest in December and January with around 40 inches of snow accumulation per month. Be sure to pack your warm layers for days on the hill along with a buff to protect against the snow, wind and sun! Don’t forget your swimsuit for the natural hot springs at Strawberry Park.

Each tour is different, but we know that by offering one of the smallest client to guide ratio in the industry allows you to ski or snowboard at your preferred pace, and ultimately leads to a better experience for everyone. We have a maximum of 6 people on this tour. This ensures you get the most out of your time with us, and keeping the groups small means less time waiting and more time riding powder.

We ask that you wait for us to advise these times before planning your flights.
  • What equipment should I bring?
Steamboat like any ski area can experience all kinds of weather depending on the season, with temperatures typically ranging from +10 to -10 in Spring. We recommend that guests have a good quality waterproof jacket and pants, lightweight insulated layer, merino base layers, merino gloves and waterproof gloves, goggles with low light & high light lenses, sunglasses, balaclava, beanie, and helmet. We recommend that all guests bring their own ski or snowboarding equipment for the tour (board, boots, bindings & outerwear), though rentals are available as well.
Testimonials
“I cannot recommend Mint Tours highly enough. They know the mountains well and will take you to mountains and spots that you simply didn’t know existed.”

Trip Guest
“Best decision we made. From the point of first contact with Jarred & the team at Mint Tours, right through the trip with our guide, everything was awesome. We were intermediate to advanced, but the guide can cater for anybody. It was so good not having to think of the best runs to go on, they just took us to the best pow on the mountain."
