The Blizzard Zero G 105 Skis are a brand new model replacing the venerated Zero G 108. Whereas the 108 used the Cochise mold and simply substituted lighter construction, the 105 was designed from the ground up as a purpose-built touring ski. Our test 180's came in at 1503 grams per ski, over 150 grams lighter than the 108 in a 178 length. Other changes of note include less Carbon Drive coverage and shorter sidewalls, giving the ski a slightly more rounded flex and making turn initiation more reliable in variable snow. If you loved the Zero G 108 but are looking for something a bit lighter and better suited to long days on the skintrack, the new Zero G 105 is probably it.
Rocker Camber Rocker – Ski profile with rocker at the tip and tail, camber in the middle. Reducing the pressure on the edge at the tip and tail makes the ski even easier to handle and increases flotation on powder snow. The camber guarantees great grip on packed snow.
Ultra-Lightweight Paulownia Woodcore
Carbon Flipcore Technology – A revolutionary rockered ski production process that incorporates a uni-directional carbon frame onto the core of the ski that results in great performance with a light and easy feel.
Carbon Drive 2.0 – The integration of a 3D uni-directional carbon fiber frame with an ultra-lightweight paulownia woodcore construction allows Blizzard to reduce the weight in the ski while providing structure for performance. The carbon frame’s 3D geometry guarantees optimal flex and torsional rigidity. The result is a level of stability, edge grip and control unprecedented in the world of ski mountaineering.
Carbon Reinforced – Two edge to edge layers of bi-directional carbon fiber are positioned in the binding mounting areas to improve binding retention and torsional strength.
Sandwich Compound Sidewall – All Blizzard skis with the exception of some junior skis are built with ABS or Phenol sidewalls for superior performance (stability, power transmission, handling) and durability.
Sintered Graphite Base
We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.
