StepChild Latchkey Rocker Snowboard 2011: The StepChild Latchkey Rocker Snowboard is StepChild’s entry-level twin snowboard and it definitely rocks. It has an injected wood/ABS core and added carbon stringers for some added support and pop. The board is great for running to the hills with every day park riding and is still a trooper on the rails. We can’t guarantee that snowboarding won’t kill you but if you die then die with your boots on!
StepChild Flexometer: Medium/Soft
The Latchkey is pressed to resemble the bottom of a rocking chair. The rocker gives the board an easy riding feel as it is “pre flexed” going into turns. It works well for parks, jibs and surprisingly well in powder. This board is a true twin with a centered stance and sidecut. The tip and tail are identical.
As with all StepChild boards, this comes with the Armadillo Plate, a diamond shaped fiberglass reinforcement layer that is placed over the inserts. Carbon stringers are added to the core of the board to give it a bit more pop and helps maintain the flex and life of the board.
The base is a pre waxed smooth “soft belt base” finish that is screened and boasts non stick UV laquer coating.
This freestyle board has edges that were built to take a beating or two, durable enough for rails and jibs and versatile enough for fresh pow days.
