Atomic has hit the jackpot with the new Atomic Backland XTD Carbon 120 GW Alpine Touring Ski Boots. They feature a supremely smooth 74˚ range of motion in touring mode, a light-but-not-too-light design that still skis well enough to wrangle a powder ski, and GripWalk soles that will work in alpine bindings in a pinch. Every choice in touring involves some sort of compromise, but the Backland XTD Carbon 120 gives up less in every direction.

Fit
Last: 100mm – A comfortable medium volume last derived from Atomic's Hawx Prime boot, meant for all day comfort and then some.
Memory Fit – Advanced heat-fitting technology creates a fully personalized shell, cuff and liner in minutes. The key is Memolink, Atomic's special additive that improves the moldability and stretch of their plastics. Expansion can be up to 6mm forefoot width and up to 10mm ankle width, resulting in a permanent and complete anatomical fit in minutes. See your bootfitter for details.
Flex
Flex: 120 – A stiff flex that promotes aggressive skiing, but not so stiff as to hinder your descent in variable conditions.
Liner
3D Platinum Tour Liner – Finally a touring liner with some density and padding, the 3D Platinum Tour is meant for long days in the BC. Breathable and washable.
Shell Materials
Hybrid Overlap Shell – An open-throat and semi-overlap shell construction that improves step-in/out and foot wrapping.
Prolite Construction – Instead of starting with a standard construction and cutting material away to save weight, Prolite does the opposite. It starts with the slimmest possible profile and then it builds up reinforcements in key areas where strength is needed.
Energy Backbone – A reinforced, asymmetric backbone providing extra strength for powerful skiing plus enhanced lateral energy transmission for better edge grip.
