  • Is there power at High Camp?
Alpine Lakes High Camp is completely off the grid. This means that there is no electricity in the cabins. The Lodge however does have two solar panels, allowing a small charging station for any required devices. Please pack and plan accordingly.
  • Without power, what do you do for lights?
Cabins are lit using propane lights. Please bring additional headlamps and flashlights for evening use and moving about camp at night.
  • What do you use to keep the cabins warm?
In cold weather, the lodge and cabins are heated using wood stoves. We supply each cabin with firewood, kindling, fire starters, and matches. A crackling wood fire is a key experience to High Camp visits!
  • After skiing, I seriously need to take a shower. What’s your setup like?
We have a small shower room next to the wood fired sauna building - simply grab a shower bag and fill it up in the Lodge with water temp of your preference. Hook the bag up to the pulley line and BAM - gravity backcountry shower at it’s finest!
  • What options are there for food?
You have several options for meals over your weekend. 1) Catered meals are available as an add-on to your trip. If interested, please let us know and we’ll provide pricing and details. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated. 2) Order groceries online from the Leavenworth Safeway and High Camp staff will pick up your order and take everything up to High Camp in coolers/bins so it’s onsite and ready upon your arrival. Set pickup for 9:30am the day PRIOR to your arrival. 3) Bring your own. Be sure to pack all the food your group needs for your stay in hard, sealable containers or coolers - no open top/grocery bags are allowed because of transport difficulties.
  • Will water be available?
Yes! Our water comes from an underground mountain spring on property. It is gravity fed to the sink in the Lodge, where you can fill your cabin water jugs or shower bags. Each cabin is supplied with one or two 5 gallon water containers for your use.
  • How should I pack my stuff?
Gear: Waterproof duffel bags or backpacks work best for clothes and personal items Food: Coolers are ideal for items that need refrigeration and a plastic tub works well for storing non-perishable food items. NO open topped bags allowed - please ensure all bags can be zipped/closed to ensure nothing is lost during transport. Skis/boots: Please have boots packed inside a bag and not loose. Skis should be strapped together, ideally with poles connected. All these steps help us ensure your gear and personal items are taken care of and secured during transport - thanks so much!
  • What’s the weather going to be like during my visit?
We prefer the NOAA weather forecast as the best option for the High Camp area. Look up “9 Miles West Plain, WA” as closest point of reference.
  • What about dogs?
Dogs are welcome at High Camp at no charge during winter, and will be transported with guests in snowcat. Max 3 dogs per cabin and max 6 dogs at High Camp at any given time. Vaccinations must be up to date and no aggressive behavior or excessive barking allowed. Please be sure to clean up after your dog.
  • Should I tip the staff?
Traditionally, guests who have enjoyed their stay at High Camp and appreciate the staff's hard work and long days splitting firewood and running snowcat have found it appropriate to tip. Although it is ultimately your personal choice, tipping is greatly appreciated (recommend 3-5%)!
  • What if I need to cancel?
evo will refer to Alpine Lakes High Camp’s cancellation policies. Before 90 Days: Full refund of deposit available minus $200 cancellation fee. Within 90 Days: Trips cancelled with less than 90 days notice will lose deposit. Within 30 Days: Full lodging amount will be charged. If you rebook your weekend, you will be refunded costs, minus $200 cancellation fee. An unexpected cancellation or medical emergency could cause you to lose your deposit or full lodging amount, because of this we strongly recommend trip insurance!
  • What about COVID-19?
If High Camp is required to close due to Washington state or Chelan County guidelines, you can reschedule at no charge or will be issued a full refund minus $200 fee. If a guest in your group tests positive or must self-isolate because of contact with a confirmed case, you will need to fill that spot or reduce group size. We will work with you to create the best scenario as last-minute cancellations are challenging for our small company size.

This is a unique alpine camp experience; one that can’t easily be found in the US. The cabins are lovely, the staff are great and good at answering questions, and the wood-fired sauna is fantastic! The area accessed is remarkable. Highly recommend. I will be back!

My favorite vacation of all time! This place has been our go to spot for the winter weekends. Tons of snow and exploring of the backcountry. If you don't mind roughing it a bit and being off grid (necessary every once in a while) this place is a gem.
