Area Information
Squamish Mountain Biking

Is it possible to have too many good mountain bike trails? We’d say no, but if any destination comes close, it’s Squamish, British Columbia. The mountain biking in Squamish is hands-down some of the best riding in the world. The small town on BC’s Sea To Sky Highway has an insane diversity of trails, from some of the best flow trails around to huge rock slabs and gnarly tech. While mountain bikers may be tempted to skip right by Squamish on the way to Whistler, the trails here are worth a trip in their own right. Paired with Whistler, and Vancouver’s North Shore, Squamish makes for a compelling BC road trip destination.

Trip Planning

Trip Planning

The weather in Whistler is generally pleasant in July, sunny with highs in the mid to upper 70's F and lows around 50 degrees F. It is not very likely to rain but we do recommend being prepared in case it does. The nights can be quite chilly, so make sure to bring a jacket and some warmer layers. Checkout our full article on what to bring mountain biking here.

For this trip, we recommend bringing an enduro style mountain bike with at leat 150mm of travel. This style of bike will allow you to ride the trails and bike park comfortabley. If you are bringing a mountain bike with less travel, or a downhill specific mountain bike, we recommend renting another bike for the other days of the trip that your bike may not be as well suited for. Mountain bike rentals can be obtained from evo Whistler at a 15% discount for trip guests. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions about what bike to bring.

FAQ
FAQ
  • I’m ready to book. What’s next?
Awesome! A $600 deposit is required in order to confirm your spot on the trip, with the remaining balance due 60 days prior to departure. If you are booking a trip that occurs within 60 days, full payment is required at the time of booking.
  • When and how do I meet up with the group?
For this trip, it is best to fly into Vancouver (YVR) International Airport. Please be sure your flight arrives no later than 12pm PST. Your trip leader will be at the airport waiting for you when you land. They will be at the exit of baggage claim/customs and will have a sign with “evoTrip” on it. If you are traveling with a bike bag, they will be able to easily spot you. If not, make sure to look out for them. We will also have a WhatsApp channel for our group to ensure easy communication before and during the trip
  • What skill/experience level is required for this trip?
This mountain biking trip is best suited to strong intermediate and above mountain bikers (can ride all green and blue runs in a bike park). You should feel comfortable navigating a variety of singletrack terrain, which could include tight trees, mud, loose rocks, and sand. Confidence in wheel lift and cornering skills are also necessary to get over obstacles and ride banked turns. As this trip will involve long descents on your bike, comfort standing on your pedals for long periods of time is crucial. If you have any questions as to whether or not this trip is within your ability level, please reach out to us!
  • Is my departure guaranteed?
No, a minimum number of guests is required to operate this trip. Please wait to make travel arrangements and book flights until you have received confirmation from evoTrip.
  • How many guests will be on this trip?
The maximum number of guests on this trip is 12.
  • Should I bring my own bike? Do you offer rentals?
For this trip, you are welcome to bring your own bike, or you can easily rent one through our store (we recommend booking in advance, online through /locations/whistler/village-sports/services/bike-rentals). We have a lot of experience traveling with bikes, so please let us know any questions you might have. Some of the airlines have baggage policies that allow a bike as one of your checked bags. Make sure to check your airline's baggage policy before booking your flight. We highly recommend you bring a downhill or long-travel mountain bike. Reach out if you have any questions!
  • What type of mountain bike should I bring?
For this trip, we recommend bringing an enduro style mountain bike with at leat 150mm of travel. This style of bike will allow you to ride the trails and bike park comfortabley. If you are bringing a mountain bike with less travel, or a downhill specific mountain bike, we recommend renting another bike for the other days of the trip that your bike may not be as well suited for. “Whistler’s most bike-friendly hotel”, the Aava Whistler Hotel will be our adventure basecamp for the week. Located conveniently in the Whistler Village, the Aava is walkable to shops, restaurants, and riding. Deluxe rooms measure 294 sq. ft. and feature two queen beds (please note this package is based on two guests sharing a room, upgrades to single rooms can be requested and if granted require a single supplement fee). • What if I’m a solo traveler? Can I get my own room?
Yes. Single occupancy rooms may be available at an additional cost of $600. Please contact us if you are interested and note that single rooms are subject to availability, and will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.
  • Who will my guides be?
This trip will be guided by Jamie Carroll, a certified mountain guide and returning evoTrip leader. Sweet Skill will also be providing guiding support on day 2 as well as for folks who do not go heli-biking. Sweet Skills coaches are local experts with amazing credentials and tons of experience. • Tell me more about the heli-biking!
Heli-biking can be added to your itinerary on Day 5 for an additional $500 per a person. Blackcomb Helicopters Heli Biking is back under the adventure-specific brand AlpX Expeditions and here to offer a newly constructed trail in a new tenured area. Many homeowners or renters policies do cover bikes while traveling abroad, so be sure to check into this before the trip. If you wish to get extra insurance for your bike, we recommend Velosurance. For standard trip insurance, if you do not wish to insure your bike or have bike coverage from another policy, we recommend World Nomads.

All cancellations must be submitted to evo in writing, are effective as of the date we receive them according to our internal records, and will be subject to a cancellation fee as follows (amounts are per person and only apply to amount paid after the non-refundable deposit amount): Cancellation 60 days or more prior to trip departure - Non-Refundable Deposit.
