Mission
Youth from marginalized communities are often drastically underserved and those who live or attend high schools in South King County face greater challenges of accessibility than more affluent communities. the Service Board (tSB) develops and implements youth-led, culturally-relevant programming to disrupt the cycle of poverty and oppression that disproportionately restricts the academic and personal potential of high school-aged youth from these communities. Their curriculum builds leadership skills while addressing significant needs and barriers. This informs the services they seek to provide: mentorship, social justice, and environmental education, community service projects, and outdoor engagement (snowboarding). Combined with their holistic curriculum of leadership development, anti-oppression, and skill-building education, participants deepen their knowledge of underlying systematic disparities and explore how to transcend existing barriers.

How evo supports the Service Board:
tSB is one of evo's oldest and strongest partnerships. Over the years, evo has hosted gear drives, house parties, art shows and movies to benefit tSB. evo employees wax and prep boards each year for tSB youth and help outfit them on the annual gear day. We've shared staff members, served as snowboard instructors and hosted tSB youth in paid internships.
