August 18 Optional: Leave the home on Friday, August 17 to arrive in Buenos Aires (EZE or AEP) on Saturday to explore the city. We'll meet up as a group on Sunday morning. There is so much to do and see in Buenos Aires, and arriving a day early will make your travel a bit more relaxing.
  • 1
August 19 If you arrived on Saturday, enjoy breakfast and a stroll around the city before meeting up at Aeroparque Jorge Newberry (AEP) at noon for our 1:45pm flight to Bariloche. If you arrive on Sunday, please ensure that your flight arrives at EZE by 9:30am in order to make it through customs and transfer to AEP (about an hour away).

We will arrive in San Carlos de Bariloche in the early evening, check into our apartment and enjoy dinner together as we prepare for our first day of skiing.
  • 2
August 20 Wake for breakfast together, gather our gear and walk over to the lifts (about a ten minute walk). We'll pick up lunch at the base of the mountain before reviewing safety and mountain information. This will be our first day of guided skiing and snowboarding at Cerro Catedral and we'll take full advantage of the mountain. Following a quick stop for après ski, we'll relax at the apartment before grabbing a taxi into Bariloche for dinner.
  • 3
August 21 After breakfast, we'll head back to the mountain, this time to explore on our own. We can pick up a snack at the base or stop for lunch at Refugio Lynch for a giant sandwich. We'll ride hard and hopefully catch a glimpse of the lake from Punta Nevada. When we are worn out, we'll have the option to enjoy dinner in the base area or head into Bariloche for a late dinner.
  • 4
August 22 Following breakfast, we’ll head back to the hill. We'll break into groups for our second and final day of guiding. Weather permitting, we'll hike to the Zona La Laguna for some epic fresh powder lines. This short hike gives you access to incredible terrain with lines ending at a frozen lake.
  • 5
August 23 Repeat! Now that you know the mountain, you'll have the day to explore your favorite runs. Lap Punta Nevada, stay over at La Laguna or get lucky off of Piedra del Condor. If you need a day to rest, we recommend heading into Bariloche to visit Bellevue Salón de Té, a quaint house overlooking Lago Nahuel Huapi with homemade cakes and sandwiches or pick up chocolate from Mamushka.
  • 6
August 24 Enjoy breakfast before walking to the lift for our final day of skiing at Cerro Catedral. To get in as many runs as possible, we can pack a tostado (a grilled ham and cheese miga sandwich) or choripán. After recovering at the hotel, we recommend ending the night with a beautiful seven-course meal at Butterfly, our favorite restaurant in town.
  • 7
August 25 Rise and pack as we'll head back to the airport following breakfast to return to Buenos Aires. After checking into Hotel Fierro, you'll have the option of exploring BA on your own, or join us for a street art tour with guides from graffitimundo through several neighborhoods. We'll have time to relax before ending our trip with a final group meal in Palermo.
  • 8
August 26 Enjoy the delicious breakfast at Hotel Fierro and prepare to head back to the States. You'll be on your own today, but we can help coordinate transportation back to the airport and the hotel will be happy to hold your luggage if you have a late flight. If you leave in the evening or add extra days, we highly recommend stopping by the Feria de San Telmo and Feria Plaza Francia (which open at noon) to find treasures for friends and family.

Area Information
San Carlos de Bariloche

Located in the Argentine foothills, San Carlos De Bariloche is the gateway to the Andes Mountains. The sprawling lakes and steep rocky peaks are quintessentially Patagonian. A short drive from the city and you’re surrounded by these epic peaks, whisked up by the great chairlift infrastructure of the Cerro Catedral ski area. You might think you’re dreaming when you remember it's August - but this is the peak of winter in Argentina.

The ski and snowboarding terrain here not only offers amazing technical terrain for the most adventurous riders, but also a fully modern and developed ski area. There is truly something for everyone. Much of the best terrain is located high up on the ridges and peaks that give the area its name. Here lie wide open powder fields and long chutes. Skiing here is the perfect antidote to a long and hot North American summer.

  • I am a beginner / intermediate / advanced level of skier / snowboarder. Will there be terrain for me?
Yes. All levels of skiers and snowboarders are welcome. You don’t need to be an advanced or expert skier or snowboarder to have a good time on this trip. However, if you are an expert you won’t be disappointed because there is terrain for everyone. Ski the resort, the parks or if the conditions are right there are plentiful backcountry options. Spend time with the group or do your own thing.

We recommend that you bring your own gear. There are rentals available at a local snow shop and at the mountain, unfortunately there is not a list of rental equipment available and we cannot guarantee that you will have access to specific sizes or brands. Avalanche safety equipment is required for backcountry riding and rentals are available as well.
  • Can I (or my partner) come even if I don’t ski or snowboard?
Yes. The primary activity on these trips is skiing/snowboarding; however, there may be options if you or your loved one does not currently participate.
