The 8 Best Wakesurf Ropes & Handles of 2022

By: Jack Mace: Watersports Buyer | June 1, 2022

It’s easy to spend a bunch of time and money obsessing over which wakesurf board will work best for you, and tuning and tweaking your boat to produce the most shapely wake. But we often overlook the components that connect you to your boat: your wakesurf rope and handle. That’s too bad, because it’s the primary contact point for your hands, and the rope’s design makes a huge difference in how power is transferred from the boat to you. The best wakesurf handles are comfortable but not too squishy, they provide great grip without tearing up your hands, and they’re shaped to make handoffs, transfers, and grabs easy. Similarly, the best wakesurf ropes have just the right amount of stretch engineered into their design so that there are no harsh yanks or weird jerks. They’re durable and reliable. We’ve put together this list of the best wakesurf ropes and handles to help make sure that you find a combination that keeps you stoked and comfortable.

New This Year:

This year’s crop of ropes and handles is better than ever before. Brands have dialed in their designs to be grippy, comfortable, and consistent. They’ve designed ropes and handles as a system that works well together to create a smooth ride. And every product on this list is markedly more durable than options from just a few years ago. So don’t neglect your rope, it’s a vital component in what you need to go wakesurfing, and has a huge impact on your experience.

Jack Mace

I grew up on the north end of Lake Washington and was surrounded by watersports enthusiasts who all had an immense passion for any activity done on the water. My dad has also worked in the boating industry my whole life, so those two factors were the main building blocks that shaped my love for the industry from a young age.

After attending Western Washington University, I moved back to the Seattle area and worked as a sailing instructor for a number of years at my cousin’s rental shop on Lake Union before joining the evo family in 2012.

At evo, I started out on the customer service team and worked my way onto the merchandising team which gave me the opportunity to integrate my passion and love for the water into a career as the Watersports Buyer. I still reside in the Seattle area with my wife Katie and two sons, Wes and Carter.
