The 9 Best Wakeboard Bindings for 2021

Anyone else old enough to remember needing dish soap or Newt Juice to get into their wakeboard bindings? Must just be me… Well that’s ok because we’ve come a long way since the not-so-good ‘ol days in the world of wakeboard binding tech. Now, the best wakeboard bindings are a whole different world of performance and comfort. Brands are bringing tons of new designs to the table with unique lacing systems, flex levels, foot bed thicknesses, and baseplate construction to suit any rider’s needs. Not only are bindings more technologically advanced, the comfort factor is at an all-time high. Even the stiffest and most high-performing wakeboard boots offer plush comfort that’ll rival your grandma’s Cadillac from the 90’s – yah, they’re that comfy.

Wakeboarders can often overlook the importance of bindings when selecting a wake setup. Sure, wake boots aren’t quite as exciting as a new wakeboard, but let’s remind ourselves that without a well-fitting binding attaching you to that new board you’ll have a tough time getting the most out of it. There are a lot of factors to think about when selecting the best wakeboard bindings for you, so we’ve made this list to talk through some of our top picks.

Liquid Force Classic 6X

The best wakeboard bindings of 2021

What qualifies a wakeboard boot for instant classic status? One could argue that they just need to be reliable, customizable, and offer plush padding for those heavier landings. The Liquid Force Classic 6X checks all the boxes. With a dual zone lacing system, the rider is able to fine tune their fit for maximum comfort and responsiveness. Speaking of comfort, this closed-toe binding utilizes the 6X chassis system with an articulating cuff and a Reflex Liner with tons of EVA cushioning. The impact EVA is paired with a lightweight Honeycomb Flex Floor to help you absorb high impact landings and reuse that energy for a lively feel on the water. This is the perfect option for someone looking for a high-performing binding that flat out works, and doesn’t mind saving a few bucks to skip the NASA-level tech that’s out there these days.

For the casual riders that want to keep the cost down but refuse to compromise comfort and performance. The Ronix Divide bindings perform well above their cost. These are super quick to get in and out of and offer a plush interior that still provides that locked-in feel. The open toe design means you’ll have the adjustability needed to buy one set for multiple riders on the boat. The Divide is also the lightest wakeboard binding that Ronix has ever created. Pair that with the low-profile baseless design and you have the makings of a very responsive ride with tons of feel on the water. The do-it-all flex and mid-height cuff means you can run these behind the boat or at the cable. Ronix Halo - Women's

The best wakeboard boots of 2021

Ronix’s Halo bindings are one of the most exciting women’s specific wake binding models we’ve seen in recent memory. Oftentimes, women’s wakeboard bindings can be built from the same foot shape as their men’s counterpart, but one of our favorite things about the Halo is that it was specifically designed around a women’s last. This means you can rest assured you’re buying a boot that was truly designed with a ladies’ foot and fit in mind. The Halo also offers the supportive comfort of Ronix’s Stage 2 liner, great heel hold from the built-in J-Bars, and a foam orthotic footbed. The best wakeboard bindings of 2021

One of our favorite beginner-friendly wakeboard bindings that just so happen to be designed specifically for the ladies on the boat. The Liquid Force Plush bindings have quite a few tricks up their sleeve without costing an arm and a leg. As with any beginner wakeboard binding, one of the most important features is comfort. No one wants the distraction of discomfort when trying to master something new, and luckily, these bindings don’t disappoint. With a softer overall flex and a unique stretch zone between the upper cuff and lower part of the boot, this binding allows for a bit of movement forward and backward to give you that extra forgiveness you need when starting out. Hyperlite Formula

The best beginner wakeboard bindings of 2021

The Hyperlite Formula is a cleverly designed open toe boot with a simple 3-strap design that provides response and comfort for multiple foot sizes. This boot offers great performance without the fuss. The strap design offers much appreciated ease of entry while still allowing for a customized fit and on-water adjustment. We really like Hyperlite’s Low Pro Plate System that cuts the overall volume by nearly 16% and helps keep the weight to a minimum. The durable dual-density foam is a big win as well. This helps prevent that dreaded packing out the foam and will keep your boots feeling as good as new for a very long time. The Formula is the perfect binding for riders that want an adjustable boot that just makes everything easy and still allows you to progress without fear of your boots holding you back. Take it together, and this is one of the best cheap wakeboard bindings.

Liquid Force Transit

The best wakeboard bindings of 2021

One of our favorite wakeboard bindings for the newer rider that splits time between the cable and the boat. With a medium flex and locking dual lace system, they offer a ton of versatility no matter what environment you ride in. You also get a ton of bang for your buck with the Transit. The well-padded EVA liner, foot-bed, and base pad offer ample impact protection and comfort that’ll last all day. The stretch zone between the upper and lower portions of the boot allow for extra freedom of movement which can come in handy when you need the forgiveness or you’re leaning into a press at the park. It’d also be silly not to mention the adjustability these open-toe boots provide. Sometimes it’s nice to have a board and boots that can be passed around the boat to riders with different foot sizes. It just makes things quick and easy for everyone involved, especially when the bindings perform as well as these.
