evo Whistler FAQs

  • Does evo’s purchase of Whistler Village Sports mean that evo is opening retail stores in Whistler?
Yes. In joining forces with Whistler Village Sports, evo will own and operate the existing retail, rental/demo and service locations in Canada: Whistler Village Sports, Excess Backcountry, Mountain Riders, Sportstop Source for Sports, and Excess Ski + Sport. Specific to how the stores will evolve, we are taking our time over the next year to build a collaborative plan with the team.
  • Does evo’s partnership with Whistler Village Sports mean that evo will begin selling online into Canada?
Whistler Village Sports' five retail stores are well-established retail businesses, and the purchase is independent of any online expansion into Canada. evo currently sells product from many of our brands that is available to ship into Canada (over 8,000 items!). Click here to see what brands/products are available for shipping to Canada: https://www.evo.com/shop/shipsto_canada. As we work on integrating many of the operational aspects of Whistler Village Sports' stores with our business and we are confident that all is running smoothly, we will work with our brand partners to add additional products and convenience for customers based in or traveling to Canada.
  • What will happen with the existing Whistler Village Sports locations?
Whistler Village Sports, Mountain Riders, Excess Backcountry, Excess Ski + Sport and Sportstop will continue to operate their existing locations as is through at least fall of 2019, and we will take the coming months to build out the longer term plan. The last thing that we want to do is disrupt the positive trajectory that the business is on, and it will be business as usual for the coming season. Longer term, we have started some collaborative work with the Whistler team to identify some of what will be the “short-list” of opportunities. Our best guess right now is that we’ll spend the next 6-9 months building the integration plan with the new team, and we’ll start to execute in about a year. With regards to branding the stores “evo”, we know for certain that the evo brand will have a presence but not yet set on what that will look like.
