With legendary snow quality and a seasonal average snowfall of close to 700 inches, we're pretty sure Niseko is where the term "Japow" originated.

Join us for a powder adventure on Japan's north island of Hokkaido. Experience epic riding, expert guiding and incredible mountain culture, all from your preferred level of accommodations (classic or premium) in the heart of Hirafu village, located at the base of Niseko’s largest mountain. Niseko not only boasts excellent in-bounds riding, but also incredible lift-accessed backcountry (optional, though rest assured no previous experience is needed and your guides will show you the goods). We'll explore Niseko and the surrounding resorts of Rusutsu and/or Kiroro, and find out for ourselves why this is the ultimate ski and snowboard destination.

Please note: This trip is designed and recommended for intermediate and above skiers and snowboarders, meaning you are comfortable on most blue runs, can link turns in powder snow, can make a variety of turn shapes and can traverse & hold speed. See our FAQs for more information about ability level requirements.

Accommodation Options:

Classic Niseko: Stay at Hakuunso Lodge or Chalet Ivy Hirafu (see trip dates below for details). Hakuunso is a family-owned and operated hotel since 1961 in the heart of Hirafu. This ryokan (Japanese-style inn) offers 20 rooms with comfortable amenities, buffet breakfast, and excellent access -- a 10-minute walk to the Grand Hirafu ski lift, as well as central to restaurants, bars, and shops. Chalet Ivy Hirafu, a boutique hotel with well-appointed rooms, mountain views, and its own onsen (natural hot springs baths), enjoys central proximity to it all -- including the chairlift (Dot Base Gondola is a 5-minute walk away).

Premium Niseko: Stay at Setsu, voted Japan's #1 Best Ski Hotel by the World Ski Awars, and for good reason. Setsu Niseko blends modern luxury with the quiet beauty of Japanese design. Spacious residence-style suites with upscale amenities, a serene onsen spa, and exceptional dining create an elevated alpine experience both on and off the mountain. A mere 2-minute walk from the Grand Hirafu ski lift, this property has unparalleled access to skiing as well as all that the town of Hirafu offers.

ITINERARY

Optional Pre-Day 1 Arrival

Optional: You may choose to arrive at New Chitose Airport the day before your trip begins and check into the hotel of your choice. We recommend the Air Terminal Hotel, especially if you are arriving late in the evening. You'll have time to relax and explore Chitose before meeting up with the group the next morning.

This night is optional — you can also choose to stay overnight in Haneda or Narita and fly to New Chitose on your trip’s start date, as long as you arrive by 11 AM to meet the group at 11:30 AM.

Welcome to Japan!

For guests arriving at CTS today, please ensure your flight lands no later than 11AM local time. After you arrive, make your way to the south end of the terminal, where you’ll meet your trip host and fellow travelers at 11:30 AM.

We'll then board a private coach for a scenic 2.5-hour journey to Hirafu, where you'll check in at either Hakuunso Lodge or Chalet Ivy Hirafu (depending on which dates you booked). Premium trip guests will be staying at Setsu Niseko. Upon arrival, we’ll unload, settle in, and get a brief overview of the area.

This is also the perfect time to pick up any rental gear from Rhythm Hirafu, if needed. You’re welcome to spend the rest of the afternoon unwinding at the lodge or exploring Hirafu village—take a stroll, browse the local shops, or simply take in the surroundings before the adventure begins. We’ll end the day with a group welcome dinner.

Discover Niseko United

Start the day by fueling up with breakfast and reviewing the plan for the week. For our first day on the mountain, we’ll head to the Niseko United resort that received the most fresh snow. You’re welcome to stay with the group or explore on your own—just remember, if you're going out of bounds, a guide is required. We’ll choose an optional meeting spot for lunch. After riding, you’ll have time to unwind at the lodge, grab an après drink, or explore Hirafu. In the evening, we’ll head into town for a delicious dinner.

Rusutsu Explorer Day

Rise & shine early -- we're heading to the renowned resort of Rusutsu (about 45 minutes away) for a new adventure. Expect shorter lines and plentiful off-piste options, as well as some of Japan's best tree skiing! If time and interest permits, feel free to take the gondola to the eccentric mall & theme park on the other side of the resort -- it's a quintessentially Japanese experience. After a day of riding, we'll head back into Hirafu for small group dinner reservations.

Niseko Gate System Day

Today is the day to explore more off-piste terrain at Niseko United resorts. We will split into two groups by interest and ability to explore Niseko back and slack country via the Niseko Resort Gates System. This will be all lift-accessed, so no need to bring your touring setup! Avy gear is required, but can be borrowed. We'll follow a hard day of riding with group dinner reservations and finish the night with a round of drinks at Bar Gyu, the tiny and infamous "fridge bar".

Choose Your Adventure

After several big days on the mountain, you'll have the option to take a well-deserved break. This is a perfect chance to explore Kutchan Town, browse for souvenirs, or relax in one of the area’s soothing onsen baths. Your guides will be off for the day, but if you'd prefer to keep riding, you’re welcome to return to the resort. (Note: lift tickets are not included for this day)

Four Resorts & More

From Hanazono to Annupuri, the options across Niseko United's four resorts are plentiful, to say the least. After an incredible day of riding, make a pit stop at a local onsen (traditional Japanese hot spring baths) to relax your aching muscles on your way back to the lodge. We'll have another group dinner reservation at a fantastic izakaya. As always, you are welcome to join or venture out on your own.

Hanazono Powder Laps, Anyone?

Today is your last day of riding—so make it count! We’ll return to Niseko United, where you can discover new terrain or revisit your favorite lines from the week. Grab your go-to lunch on the mountain, then ride into the afternoon until your legs are burning, your heart is full, and your face is covered with snow. Cap off the day with an après drink to celebrate an incredible week, pack up your gear, and join the group for a final farewell dinner.

Departure

Wake up early to enjoy a final breakfast and bid farewell to your gracious lodge hosts. We'll board a private coach to New Chitose Airport, marking the close of an unforgettable trip. As it is a 2 hour transfer to CTS Airport, we ask that your flight from CTS depart no earlier than noon. From here, you can begin your journey home or continue your Japan adventure. If you're planning to stay longer or explore Tokyo, we're happy to help coordinate additional travel—and may have luggage shipping options available to make your travels easier.

FAQs

Is my trip guaranteed to run?

The January & February trips are all confirmed to run! The March trips will require a minimum number of travelers to confirm. Please wait to make travel arrangements, such as booking flights, until you receive confirmation from evoTrip that your departure is confirmed.

I'm ready to book. What next?

To secure your spot, you can either pay the full amount now or contact Customer Care at 1.866.386.1590 if you prefer to only pay your $1,000 per person deposit. Note that regardless of paying full payment or deposit at time of booking, we will consider $1,000 to be a non-refundable deposit in accordance with our terms and conditions. Full payment is due 60 days prior to departure.

I've got a crew! What kind of pricing can you offer for me & my party of 6 or more people?

Awesome! We are pleased to offer discounted pricing for groups of 6-12 people. For Classic Niseko trips: For a group of 6-7 (including you), the trip price is $3850 per person. For a group of 8-9, it's $3750 per person. For a group of 10-12, it's $3650 per person. For Premium Niseko trips: For a group of 6-7 (including you), the trip price is $5700 per person. For a group of 8-9, it's $5600 per person. For a group of 10-12, it's $5500 per person. Please email [email protected] if you have a group and we can happily arrange a custom, discounted booking for you.

When and how do I meet up with the group?

Arrive to New Chitose Airport (CTS) by 11am on the first day of your trip (Day 1). Due to flight schedules from North America, you will likely need to arrive the day before the trip starts, which we would recommend anyway so you can get some rest (and get ahead of jet lag) before our adventure. We recommend the Air Terminal Hotel if you do arrive the night before, but there are plenty of other options. Any questions, just let us know!

What skill level is required for this trip?

We recommend this trip for everyone from intermediate to advanced & expert skiers and snowboarders, as your trip leaders will group participants by skill level, pace, and objective. "Intermediate" means you feel comfortable on most blue runs, and can link turns in powder snow, can make a variety of turn shapes and can traverse, hold speed and are adventurous when skiing and snowboarding the entire mountain. Familiarity with riding off-piste is highly beneficial on this trip. If you are not intermediate or above, you are welcome to join the trip -- we can recommend lessons and/or you are always welcome to do your own thing! Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions about ability level.

Can I choose my roommate?

Yes. If you have a roommate request, please let us know. By default, we will place two people of the same gender in a room with two beds.

Can I book a private room? Will there be a single supplement?

Yes, though single rooms are first come, first served and subject to availability. Please note an additional cost (known as a single supplement) of $950 will apply for Classic Niseko, and an additional cost of $2350 will apply for Premium Niseko. Please check in with Customer Care before booking if this will determine your participation.

What if I'm a solo traveler that would like a roommate but none are available?

If you are a solo traveler that would like a roommate, we do our best to pair you with another solo traveler of the same gender. However, if no roommate option is available and you must be assigned your own room, you will be asked to pay 50% of the single supplement to cover the cost of your room. For Classic Niseko, as the single supplement is $950, you would be liable for $475 extra. For Premium Niseko, as the single supplement is $2350, you would be liable for $1175 extra. Please note roommates are paired on a first come, first served basis, so the earlier you book the less likely you will be "forced" into a single room.

Seven nights of accommodations at Hakuunso Lodge or Chalet Ivy Hirafu (Classic Niseko), or Setsu Niseko (Premium Niseko). All breakfasts and one group dinner. Five days of skiing at an area resort. We recommend that you purchase travel insurance to protect your flight and belongings as well as cover medical expenses. For travel insurance, we recommend World Nomads. We recommend planning to spend $500-$700 on meals, drinks, entertainment, and gifts.

Is there a discount if I already have an Ikon Pass?

Yes, if you have an Ikon or Ikon Base pass and would like to join our Niseko trip, we will provide a discount of $250 after booking in the form of a refund. We will send out a comprehensive recommended gear list before your trip. Please let us know if you have any questions around recommended equipment.

Are rentals available?

Yes! Our partners at Rhythm in Niseko can help take care of all your ski and snowboard rental needs. More information on rental inventory at www.rhythmjapan.com/rentals. We are happy to offer guests 10% off rentals booked for their evoTrip. Please use the following link to make your reservation and receive your discount https://tinyurl.com/Rhythm-Rentals

I am going to come early / stay longer; can I do something with my gear?

Japan has an incredible luggage delivery service (Black Cat) that you can take advantage of for about $50. If you arrive early, you can send your snow gear to the lodge from the airport. If you are staying longer, you can have your luggage delivered to the airport ahead of your arrival. We can give you all the information to coordinate this.

Should I purchase travel insurance?

YES! While it is not required, we always recommend purchasing travel insurance for all trips. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement if you are forced to cancel your trip for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to cover medical help, emergency transport, theft and/or accidental damage while traveling. We recommend World Nomads.

What if I need to change or cancel my trip?

If you cannot or no longer wish to join your scheduled trip, we offer the option to forward your deposit to a future evoTrip, up to 60 days prior to departure date. However, if you need to cancel, the deposit for the trip is non-refundable and cancellations will be subject to a cancellation fee (see policy below). For this reason, we recommend purchasing travelers insurance, which will cover the cost of your trip in extenuating circumstances. All cancellations must be submitted to evo in writing, are effective as of the date we receive them according to our internal records, and will be subject to a cancellation fee as follows (amounts are per person and only apply to amount paid after the $1,000 non-refundable deposit amount): Cancellation 60 days or more prior to trip departure - Non-Refundable $1,000 Deposit charged. Cancellation between 30 and 59 days prior to trip departure - 50% of total booking cost charged. Cancellation less than 30 days prior to departure - 100% of total booking cost charged. Cancellation policy for custom trips may differ from these terms and will be communicated prior to booking. No refunds will be made if you voluntarily leave a trip for any reason after the trip has begun. The same applies if you leave a trip or cannot fully participate in a trip due to injury or illness. Refunds will be at the discretion of the Company if you are involuntarily forced to leave a trip for any reason. No refunds will be made for any accommodation, transport, sightseeing, meals or services not utilized.
