Who is Juli Watson?

Juli is a visual artist and designer living in Seattle with her husband, Ryan, and 2-year-old son, Noah. Her background in the creative world started in fine art photography and painting and later into graphic design. She started sketching ski and snowboard graphics back in high school just for fun, never thinking it would be something she would get to do for work someday. But her love for art and skiing really wouldn't come together until, living in Summit County, CO, she was immersed in mountain life and was inspired by the people who were doing what they love to do, making it a priority, and even making it their job. Now, she mostly works with companies and organizations that are connected to the outdoor industry to visually tell their stories.

What Inspires You?

Whether it's doing personal projects, designing ski graphics or designing a website, Juli enjoys the creative process. She finds inspiration from the projects themselves and what the brand is all about. With RMU, getting out there, having fun with friends, enjoying nature and appereciating adventure has always been the basic idea.

RMU Skis

Almost 10 years ago, when RMU was just starting, there was a ski graphics contest. Juli submitted her design and the rest is history... just kidding. Her design was not picked, but about 5 years after that, RMU was looking for a new designer and stumbled upon old RMU graphics in her online portfolio, and she was asked to submit designs to be considered for production. Since then, she has designed 5 seasons' worth of RMU graphics.

Your Most Recent Ski Graphics?

Over the years the graphics have evolved, taking ideas from the year before into the next while keeping a basic connection to mountain life. This year, photographs were used to create texture and depth, but also to bring the view of the skier right onto the ski. Past graphics show illustrations of mountain peaks from a distance, so this year, the images are as if you are actually on the mountain. The photos chosen for the skis were taken by Alex Neuschaefer, a photographer that has been with RMU since the beginning.
