Comments about Spark R&D Afterburner Splitboard Bindings 2015:

I have been snowboarding in the backcountry since 83 around Tahoe. Originally on snow shoes, then on K2 approach skis for many years, then to the split board. I have used both hard and soft boots and experimented with many different designs.

While the down is the reward, the up is why I go out there. There is an addicting sensory response to the hard effort in the uphill, and this is where split boarding needs to groom its future. Equipment for the uphill needs to be effective, efficient, and easy for the user. The Spark bindings and new interface achieve all three points very well.

These bindings represent the next level in split boarding. Simplistic approach to what others consider to be a complex problem (interface).

The construction is bomber, the ease of installation phenomenal, and the uphill performance so much nicer.

I have watched the progression of snow boarding in the backcountry for several decades now. The products Spark R&D has produced have changed the game. There is no doubt that these guys are leading the sport to new highs.

Comments about Spark R&D Afterburner Splitboard Bindings 2015:

These are hands down the best splitboard binding on the market. Not only is their base plate bomb proof, but how fast you can switch from touring to setting up into a splitboard is almost obnoxious, it's so fast. All of your friends will be in awe when you're all set up and they're still trying to figure out how to pack away their skins. For the money, these are the strongest, most comfortable binding to date. Also, they come with the Burton specific buckles, so you know they won't come undone while riding, which has been an issue for other bindings out there. Being able to switch these bindings out without using pins not only keeps you in a good mood on the mountain, but keeps your hands warm since you won't need to take your gloves off. I would recommend the Spark Sabertooth Crampons as well, since hard packs can and will be an issue during parts of the year. Spark also makes a heel locker, which can be super helpful for side stepping in certain situations, or those times where you have a decent descent while still skinning, just to make you feel like you can almost ski.

Go out and get these bindings now! They rock!
