WNDR Alpine Intention 108 Camber Skis 2023

The WNDR Alpine Intention 108 Camber Skis set a new standard in versatile performance in the touring segment, with a profile that's at once floaty and powerful, backed by an eco-friendly production process that's breaking barriers in energy efficiency and the use of non-petroleum based materials. Matt Sterbenz produced some great skis at his old company, and he's continued the trend with his new Algal Tech skis made just minutes from the new evo flagship store and hotel in Salt Lake City. Our testers have settled on the 108 as the best width for winter touring in snow-prone areas - they are pretty much evenly split on whether to go camber or reverse.

Camber or Reverse Camber?: Camber refers to the gap you see when you place a pair of skis together base to base. If you see a small gap, the ski is cambered; if there is no gap it is reverse combered or fully rockered. WNDR Alpine makes each of its models in either shape. Generally, the cambered versions will perform better on harder snow (i.e. groomers) with more pop as you finish the turn and tend to be preferred by those who plan to ski both in and out of bounds on the ski. Generally a reverse camber model provides a surfier ride with easier pivoting in challenging snow and may be preferred for pure backcountry conditions. Your personal preference may vary - there are plenty of people who prefer a cambered ski for touring or a fully rockered ski for on piste skiing.
Sidecut:
Tapered Sidecut Symmetry: The sidecut shape precisely intersects the early rise splay in the tip and tail curvatures, creating a weightless, buoyant and nimble sensation.
Core:
Algal Core: The Algal Core is a composite of vertically laminated, locally sourced aspen with high-density, algal polyurethane stringers. Biobased carbon content 41% by ASTM D6866.
Laminates:
Biobased Super Sap®: Biobased Super Sap® technology replaces traditional petroleum-based resin systems. Entropy Resins® minimize the carbon footprint of WNDR Alpine products. The certified bio-based content per ASTM D6866 of the ER-305 Resin is 28%.
Sidewalls:
Algal Wall: Algal Wall cast polyurethane sidewalls are made utilizing a proprietary biobased polyurethane, engineered to improve edge hold and bondline strength with core over traditional materials. Algal Wall sidewalls utilize a novel manufacturing technique that diverts plastic waste from the landfill compared to traditional use of ABS plastic sidewalls. Biobased carbon content 60% by ASTM D6866.
