I should have purchased a size 26 instead of 26.5. I don't think this was a result of the boot not running true to size, I just have a tough time getting my size right and this is compounded by mail ordering boots. However the savings is well worth the effort of using mail order. I never skied these boots so my review isn't worth much.

So far these have proven to be great boots. I would have given a five but since my previous boots were 15 years old it's hard to tell if just any new boots would have been better. Overall, I've actually seen improvement in my performance since buying these boots, I was able to ski all day with them right out of the box, and they are super adjustable.

As indicated in the above information, I use these boots for all-mountain skiing and as of yet, they haven't failed me in that capacity in the slightest. The liner breaks in pretty quickly so you'll find yourself adjusting the buckles a bit often on your first couple of uses, but that just means you'll be getting a boot that fits much better and over a shorter period of time. The only issue I've had so far with the Hot Rods is the slight difficulty getting out of them when it's time to head home. To be fair though, this is after using myself up to the point that I'm hoping I can remain standing for the next 100 meters so I make it to the lodge. In which case, removing yourself from a well-fitting ski boot is going to present some challenges. Good luck to you on the slopes!

Boot fit great but the rachet teeth were not adjustable because they were fastened to the boot with rivets. There was no extra holes to move the rachets due to a smaller ankle. Other boots that I encountered were easily adjustable in that area.

the boots were great in all ways but one for me. they seemed a bit too soft to be capable of holding a solid edge in challenging terrain. otherwise, they were pretty sweet. i think they're better for soft snow and moderate cruising.

Get accustomed to your flex needs, this boot was tooooo soft for agressive skiing.

This boots are great. I have been skiing for about eight years but just returned after being away for ten. All my equipment was outdated to be kind and after trying on several different boots I found the Hot Rod 85s to be the most comfortable, lightest and easiest to get on. After skiing several days they preform well, sufficient flex, awesome foot to ski reaction and I never experienced foot fatigue after skiing 7 straight hours. I would definitely recommend these to someone looking to upgrade from older equipment or looking for a better performance boot.

I have wide feet so finding boots that fit correctly and are comfortable are a real challenge for me. Not only did these fit perfectly right out of the box but the buckles make fine tuning the fit very easy. I ski about 50/50 and these are a nice stiff boot that easily adjusts to my needs on the fly.

Great boot for the money. Warm liner with the faux sheepskin. Just the right amount of room for my toes so I don't cramp up. Good looking boot. Right amount of flex for my skill set. Evo is the best.

I bought this boot to instruct in. Its a good solid boot that doesn't have any bells and whistles. It fits well, has a pretty even flex and is warm and comfortable. The only down side is the two upper buckles on the cuff don't adjust down small enough. I don't have small ankles or calves. If you do you won;t be happy with the fit.

I've not used them yet but they fit great, have nice firm flex and are extremely comfortable, seem to be high quality construction. Looking forward to using them in a few weeks.

Excluding two years as a kid I've been a life long snowboarder. For the past two years I have toyed with the idea of learning to ski again. I finally made the jump this December. As I've owned my own gear for some time, and not being accustomed to renting, I made the plunge and purchased these boots.

My skiing friends all had told me to brace myself because ski boots were no where near as comfortable as snowboards boots. Simply put, after 10+ days skiing with theses boots, I have no idea what they were all talking about. These are insanely comfortable. I'm not sure if they were designed that way because of the market segment they are geared for (advanced beginner/intermediate), but I don't care either. They feel more comfortable than the most comfortable snowboard boots even when they are properly fit and tightened. In the comfort area I have zero complaints.

They are also relatively warm for a skit boot, which from my understanding don't retain heat as well as their snowboard boot counterparts.
