Product Info

Full Tilt First Chair Ski Boots 2013: The Full Tilt First Chair Ski Boots are the answer to those of you saying, “but I need a stiff flex”. Well the Full Tilt First Chair Ski Boots have your stiff flex, but it’s a smooth and natural linear flex that overlap models simply can’t achieve. New for this year Full Tilt has added a replaceable non-slip natural rubber sole for easy walking on pavement, ice, and everywhere in between. The First Chari also features Full Tilt’s highest performance Quick-Fit Pro Liner with Intuition® foam that molds 100% to your feet for powerful control, warmth, and comfort like no other.

Product Details

Flex

Flex Rating – 10 (1 Softest – 10 Stiffest)

An all-mountain directed 7 ribbed tongue provides a stiff, responsive, smooth natural flex. This natural flex is made with a free hinging rear cuff that never bottoms out. Full Tilt tongues are inter-changeable; making it simple enough to swap flexes on-the-fly (extra tongues sold separately). This design also provides even pressure throughout due to the cables that work just like your favorite shoelaces.

Materials

Full Tilt boots are up to 2lbs/900g lighter per pair than other boots due to a minimalistic shell that contains no overlapping plastic or bolts. The thinner plastic also increases the feel and responsiveness, making these boots much quicker than other pairs.

Liner

The Quick Fit™ Pro Liner is Full Tilt’s highest performance moldable liner.

J-Bars create powerful internal ankle hold down.

7mm High Density Intuition® Foam: this closed cell foam is made to transfer power and energy to the shell and is body heat activated to mold 100% to your feet and shell during use or can be instantly heat molded by a shop in minutes.

Powerwrap adds an additional layer of ergonomically shaped High Density Intuition® Foam to wrap around the outside of the upper liner, providing added energy transfer and horsepower to the shell.

Stance

99 mm width last and updated toe box - this width is very narrow from heel to toe, designed for people with straight and narrow feet

NEW Full Tilt Soul is the reincarnation of the Original 3-Piece Design, now with a modern toe box shape and an integrated replaceable natural rubber sole for non-slip walking & hiking.

Additional Features

Easy On and Off with tongues that open like convertibles and will never block your foot.

Rigid Bootboard maximizes responsiveness and feel of the snow.

Aluminum ratchet buckles are made for durable on-the-fly micro adjustments.

3 Cable closure eliminates deadspots for a smooth even pressure fit.

Replaceable natural rubber sole for non-slip walking/hiking.

I was skeptical of these boots because of the old design, but everyone who has them loves them. Of course, I got sized by three different bootfitters first and they all said that Full Tilt was a good option for my feet. Tried on the Classics, they fit great, then I ordered the First Chair for the stiffer flex, rubber sole, and slightly bigger toebox.

They are perfect. No pain at all, my feet stay warm (Have skied in 0 degrees and been fine), and I don't even care to unbuckle them when I grab a beer at the lodge. I ski with them pretty tight, and they are perfectly responsive, have the right amount of flex (I would call it a 120-ish flex) and there is absolutely no pain.

I thought the brand was just a lot of hype from park rats and people too obsessed with styling, but they are great. I had Dalbello 3 piece boots before these, and I like these much better. Got the liners heat molded and there are no pressure points at all. Also super easy to put on and take off. But Im never in a hurry to take them off.

I actually like the way these boots fit, but I can't justify giving them more than 2 stars with the poor durability of the buckles. After just 1 year of use, one of the toe buckles broke and I had to remove it, and all but 1 of the rest of the buckles no longer spring shut properly so they sometimes pop open randomly while I'm skiing. I've also noticed that there isn't a tight enough seal between the tongue and the shell and snow can get in there on a pow day making the liner wet and getting my feet cold. I'Ve never had a problem getting 5+ seasons out of a pair of boots until I bought these. I'll probably retire these after this season because they're more trouble than they're worth.

Comments about Full Tilt First Chair Ski Boots 2013:

I have not skied with the boots but have worn them a few hours every 3 or 4 days. As advertised they are forming to my feet and very comfortable. If you are not going to ski them right away this approach is very successful and avoids the shop heat/form process.

Comments about Full Tilt First Chair Ski Boots 2013:

Just kind of wanted to post up this review to show that while full tilts might be really good, they are not necessarily perfect.
They ski awesome, super rigid and the power transfer is great. I was coming off a pair ofClassics to these and am stoked how much better my skiing got.Durability: This is mainly why I wrote this review. The boots skied great, but had a surprising number of failures on them. I am not a big guy, and I normally dont break stuff, especially boots.

Comments about Full Tilt First Chair Ski Boots 2013:

Bought my last pair of ski boots, Raichle Flexons, at the G.I. Joe's in Bend, OR, in about 1983. After 25 years on a snowboard I am starting to spend more time on skis and these boots are the perfect welcome back. Comfortable, easy to get in an out of, plenty stiff, but not shin-banging, and a nice snug fit. I am no longer a racer but love to carve GS turns and theese boots work great with plenty of feel. The boots also work in the bumps, but a little softer tongue would be nice, so I will probably purchase a set of #6 tongues, to be used depending on location and conditions...and that is maybe the best thing about Full Tilt boots, you can change the flex in about 3 minutes and $50 worth of tongues.

I am in ski boots at least 11 hours a day for work. I had an older pair of Full Tilt but got a new pair of alpine boots this season. After 3 weeks in the new boots I was fed up so I went ahead and bought another Pair of Tilts and right out of the box they are more comfortable by ten fold and actually a lot tighter and responsive.

Comments about Full Tilt First Chair Ski Boots 2013:

I have suffered "Lange Bang" in the past. To the point that I can put a boot on, not buckle it, and immediately know that nothing but pain awaits. With the Full Tilt I have ZERO pain, if I wrap the liner in reverse around my calf. That is the outer overlapping layer I place directly against the shin.
            The boots are incredibly light.
The ability to purchase replacement parts is nice.
The flex is very nice, very progressive, but a little softer than I was expecting out of their #10 tongue. Its not a deal breaker by any means, but is something immediately noticeable. I would place it at 110. If they offer a #12 I might consider a change out.
Bottom line is I have finally found a replacement for my 13 year old boots and can continue to ski.

Comments about Full Tilt First Chair Ski Boots 2013:

I bought these boots and initially could hardly stand to put my foot in the boot. After heat molding and a little work from a boot fitter, all I can say is wow! I almost returned them right at first because I couldn't hardly get my foot in them and couldn't get them to buckle. The fit after a little tweaking to the boot is incredible! The best power transmission to comfort relationship I've ever had in a boot! From my old Technica Icon Carbons to my latest Salomon Quest boots. These Full Tilts are by far the best boots I've ever had the pleasure of skiing. Dampens vibration, smooth stiff flex, non-slip sole, laterally stiff, and responsive boot. I'm sold on Full Tilt boots and the First Chair is a stellar big mountain hard charging boot! If you have fit issues take them to a fitter and you'll have the best ski boot you've ever had! I just can't believe it took me this long to give Full Tilt a try.

Full tilt has perfected the 3 piece boot design. I got the first chair because it came with the stiffest tongue. the boot provides the balance between comfort and stiffness. the intuition liner is so warm. the replacable tongue is awesome because when the year is over and the boot is all flexed out to regain stiffness you replave the tongue not the whole boot.

I had been searching all fall for the "right" boot for me. Tried a Soloman and then a boot from Atomic. Tried on a ton of others. After really looking into the Full Tilt line and speaking to many boot experts, I decided they were not just "hype" , and they were actually a great boot. Super easy to get on and off. Love the Intuition Wrap Liner. Very comfy and warm. The First Chair's are super light compared to most boots. And another great thing about Full Tilt boots is the ability to swap out the flex tongues for different flexes. Like having more than one boot! Scored them for a great price through Evo. I am sold on the Full Tilt design and the Intuition Liner. Ditch those dinosaur traditional tongue boots and head to a pair of Full Tilts.

                    Service and delivery comments:

Evo ROCKS! The best customer service there is!

This boot is by far the most comfortable, sturdy, light and reliable boot I have ever owned. I ski better because of my Full Tilt Fist Chair boots. Oh and you can't forget about that perfect flex! Amazing!'

Look, I was looking for a comfortable but yet some what customizable for my feet without having to spent $1100. Full Tilt ski boots are the closes to getting that for the price. Good feel, haven't been able to ride them yet, but i'll let you know.

This boot is highly modifiable, which is one of the best qualities this boot offers. It is also very comfortable, has a unique width for narrow but not too narrow feet, micro buckle adjustment and is very easy to put on and take off. The three piece design also prevents bulging of the inside part of the boot whilst flexing hard. This boot, hands down, is one of the best on the market!

Comments about Full Tilt First Chair Ski Boots 2013:

I used to be a custom boot fitter. I bought these boots to replace a pair of Flexon Comps from 1981. Unfortunately the shells to those boots got tossed after the liners were completely shot and I couldn't find parts. These new boots have the same fit, which I love! They could have been perfect if they had used an old style liner with a tongue. Sure, you gotta watch snow getting in the boot, but that was an easy fix. The problem: The overlapping liner put pressure on my left calf in a way that made my leg cramp. The right one felt fine. I wish I could say I skied them, but even with all the knowledge of a pro boot fitter, I couldn't figure out a way to overcome that overlap and the problem it caused.
