Comments about Scarpa Mobe Alpine Touring Ski Boots 2012:
I'm a firm believer that boots are the one piece of ski equipment where you cannot settle for less. I went shopping for a pair of AT Boots and tried almost every high-end model/style from Black Diamond Factors down to Nordica Hell & Backs until I finally came across the Scarpa Mobe. I have to admit, I didn't even consider the Mobe until the boot tech at EVO recommended them based on my style of skiing & foot dimensions. I wear a 12.5 shoe and the 29.5 mondo fit perfectly - a bit tight in the toe & snug around the foot. After heat molding the Intuition Liners, the toes freed up and the heels locked down (with help from Superfeet insoles).
First Day Report: As expected my feet were a bit sore for the first few runs. However toward the end of the morning the liners took shape and the aches completely disappeared. More importantly, these performed better than expected - Nice stiff flex, held the rails perfectly at high speeds and felt at home off piste in some crud. From someone who is used to riding powerful traditional downhill boots, I didn't miss my Nordica Speed Machine's for a second.
If your in the market for some high-end AT Boots give the Mobe a look!
