2024 Ride Psychocandy Snowboard Review

Review Summary

Avg. Tester Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆ (5/5)

The Ride Psychocandy Snowboard receives glowing reviews from both male and female riders! Despite being designed to be ridden shorter (thanks to its added width), the Psychocandy impressed with its moderate stiffness, excellent edge hold, and nimble carving abilities on Mt. Bachelor. It proved stable on jumps and provided excellent pop, making it a fun option with a lively and playful personality. All our reviewers echoed the encouragement around downsizing due to its volume shifted design and praised its effortless edge-to-edge transitions, buttering capabilities, and tight turn radius. While the Psychocandy chattered a bit at high speeds, the forgiving rocker/flat/rocker profile and medium flex appealed to intermediate riders seeking progression.

Overall, the Ride Psychocandy is hailed as an outstanding volume-shifted all-mountain snowboard for intermediate to advanced riders, offering quick responsiveness and impressive performance in deep snow and variable terrain. Compared to its Warpig brethren, the Psychocandy is a bit narrower with a slightly softer, more forgiving flex.

Aggressive and fast ride for intermediates and up.

“My home mountain is Mt. Bachelor and I love powder, trees, and hitting side hits and wind lips all the way down. I got to demo the Ride Psychocandy in a size 146cm. I am 5ft 7in and 130lbs I usually would ride somewhere in the 148-151cm range, but this board is wide enough that I thoroughly enjoyed riding the 146. It is a moderately stiff board but it's stiff in all the right ways. It holds an edge and carves really well, and it is damp enough to plow through chunder and uneven terrain. I hit a few jumps on it and it's such a stable board that the take-off and landing were very solid, and I was able to get more pop out of it than I expected. It wouldn't be my park board of choice, but it had enough pop to be fun on jumps still. It felt like it had a really fast base too, it glided through flat sections better than a lot of boards I demo'd. I'd definitely recommend this board!”

Super fun and playful board!

“Looking for a fun all-mountain board? Then look no further! It is a volume shifted board so you would want to downsize a few cm's. At 5ft 5in and 170lbs, the 150cm length was more than enough. This board excels at edge to edge transitions, sooo smooth and effortless. Really poppy and you can lock in them butters! And with its sidecut radius this thing turns on a dime! Only downside is it does chatter a bit at high speeds. But with its rocker/flat/rocker profile and medium flex its also really forgiving. Would recommend this to the intermediate rider looking to progress.”

Awesome board for intermediates and above!

"The Ride Psychocandy is a killer option for experienced riders looking for an all-mountain board. I rode the 146cm (I am 5ft 2in and 125lbs) but given the shape of this board, I recommend sizing down 4-6cm. The medium flex coupled with the directional shape and tapered tip/cutout tail offer ultimate versatility on not only the deep days but also in variable conditions where quick responsiveness is essential.”

Pros

  • Versatility in various conditions, making it great for all-mountain riding.

  • Nimble and easy to maneuver.

  • Full range of unisex sizing options!

Cons

  • Chattery at high speeds.

  • Not ideal for freestyle/park riding.
