2023 Bataleon Evil Twin+ Snowboard

The Lowdown

The Evil Twin+ is a full cambered true twin snowboard featuring 3BT (Triple Base Technology) with Sidekick. By blending the camber with uplifted contact points, you get ultimate precision you expect from camber but a smoother transition when initiating turns. Now add in the Sidekick to increase the uplift just outside of the widest points, and you have a shape that resembles a boat’s hull increasing float through snow and slush. The real upgrades elevating the + over the regular Evil Twin are in the core and the base. The core has been upgraded to the S.U.L.C (Super Ultra Light Core) which is Bataleon’s lightest core to date, using an 80/20 blend of Swiss Paulownia and poplar, making it more responsive and a hair stiffer creating a better response. Also, they’ve added their AirRide tech into the core. This additive is milled into the nose and tail to dampen vibrations creating a very smooth feeling ride. The other main upgrade the Evil Twin+ has received is the Ultra Glide S Base. This is a premium 7000 grade base which means this base has more molecules to go faster.

To sum this up, the Evil Twin+ is smoother, faster, and lighter.

Technical Details

The Evil Twin, although labeled a park board, is truly versatile in all terrain. The latest upgrades to the core and base are welcomed! They truly enhanced an already perfect board in my eyes. I was able to ride this board at a few different resorts, so I really got to experience it in different snow conditions. 3BT makes all conditions fun in their own way.

On groomers, the board is very stable and playful on both steep and mellow pitched terrain. At speed, the camber provides the stability, and the 3BT provides the fun aspect with no worry of catching an edge. This is where I really noticed the AirRide in the core, as it really dampened any chatter I usually feel from all the different terrain changes.

In the park and hitting side hits, this board really excelled. Insane pop from the camber. The 3BT really allowed me to ride flat base into anything and land worry free, and the Ultra Glide S Base was fast and easy to maintain speed. As this board has the twin 3BT you get the widest center base, which gives a stable platform to lock into and be catch free on rails or boxes.

In the pow, this board has insane float. The 3BT with SideKick really creates that hull, keeping you afloat. 3BT really makes for a surfy experience. Being a little bit stiffer than the OG Evil Twin, it handled the wetter, heavy snow better.

Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆

Pros

  • Versatile – Don’t let this park board fool you, it rides everything well.
  • Lightweight – Almost like it's not there! Better spin weight off jumps and side hits.
  • Fast and Smooth - The base and core build are perfectly created to make you feel confident in all riding situations.

Cons

  • Matte on the topsheet shows marks easily.
  • Could be torsionally a little stiffer. A slight adjustment here would enhance the overall stability, especially on bigger jumps.

Who Is It For?

The Evil Twin+ is for the intermediate to advanced snowboarder who is freestyle focused but isn’t necessarily restricted to the park. For the boarder who prioritizes their snowboard over everything else, wants to have the latest tech to compliment their ability, and wants a fast, smooth, and lightweight snowboard.

The Bottom Line

Don’t let the label fool you, the Evil Twin+ Snowboard goes so much further than the park. The bottom line is, this board truly rips the entire mountain well and Bataleon didn't sacrifice anything in creating the Evil Twin+. The premium core ingredients like AirRide and S.U.L.C Wood core mixed with Bataleon’s twin 3BT truly make this board smoother, faster, lighter. Built to make snowboarding fun, the best is now better!
