If you've watched Drew Tabke and Lars Chickering-Ayers stomp those ridiculous lines in the Freeride World Tour and wondered what it takes to ski on that level - well, lots of practice for one thing. The other thing that helps is the Tabke-designed Praxis GPO Skis, a big mountain stomping implement with a penchant for pow. Not for the faint of heart or those who are afraid to let a ski run, the GPO rocks a 116 mm waist that's perfect for what we call "all mountain" skiing in the Pacific Northwest (other places call this a powder shape), with an aggressively rockered tip and tail profile that lets the ski get up and float even at modest speeds. As for the effortless back layouts and forty foot drops with dragstrip runouts, you're on your own.

Core:

Bookended MAP Core: Praxis uses a woodworking practice known as "bookending" to produce matched cores for your skis. Each core is sliced off a core block and the slices are matched at creation, numbered and milled as a pair. This produces the most closely matched grain and flex characteristics possible.

Hard Maple, Ash, and Paulownia Woods: The ash is used in the center of the ski and the perimeter of the ski. This provides a strong frame for the ski that smoothes out and dampens the ride. Hard maple is used to create a solid center in the ski for binding mounts. Paulownia is a very lightweight hardwood and is used in the rest of the skis core. The combination of these hand-selected woods create a strong, damp, lightweight core.

Laminates:

Triaxial Fiberglass: This fiberglass stabilizes the ski’s flex in three directions, creating better edge hold and torsional stiffness. Each fiberglass weave is overlaid directly on top of each other and stitched together, as opposed to woven, creating a longer lasting, more durable ski.

Sidewalls:

Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene Orbicular Sidewalls: Praxis machines the sidewalls on its skis to a rounded finish for better protection from edge hits and to recess the sidewall for tuning.

Pre-bonded Sidewalls: Where other companies simply tack their sidewalls to the core with staples and hope the epoxy fills in the gaps during pressing, Praxis pre-attaches the sidewall to the core in a press with epoxy prior to the final ski layup to assure proper bonding and guard against "blow outs."

Base:

Extra Thick 4001 Sintered Bases: This high-grade base material provides excellent wax absorption properties and is proven to be one of the fastest running and most durable base materials offered in the industry.

Edges:

Oversized 360˚ Edges: The tip and tails of the ski’s edge are specially prepared to be more impact resistant, have better bonding, and molded to the upturn of the ski for a longer lasting construction.
