The Switchback concept is a bit different than other bindings - baseplate, straps, and highbacks are sold separately, and each component is offered in five different colors so you can mix and match to your heart's content. Once you have the baseplates mounted on your board, you can plug in the straps and highbacks (or not) whenever the mood strikes, and without tools. For riders who like to ride with a backless setup once in a while, whether you're in powder or tweakin' in the park, but still want highbacks for hard snow and carving ability, then the Switchback system is ideal - you can convert to a no-back setup in seconds on hill, then convert back whenever you feel the need. Fashionistas can buy several colors of straps/highbacks and swap them to match their outfit of the day or mood.
