4FRNT Renegade Skis 2013

If you clicked on this link, you probably already know the story behind the Renegade. It's hand made by Cody and Eric in a facility called the White Room in Salt Lake City, carefully and in very small numbers. When you're standing atop something long, steep and burly - and you're pretty sure the runout is going to involve speeds in excess of 45 mph - there's nothing better to have on your feet than the 4FRNT Renegade Skis. Be prepared to commit if you buy this ski; it's not your average rockered fat ride for people who are just learning to ski powder. The Renegade is stiff and has some serious girth for total rider confidence at mach schnell and a ferocious bite on hard snow when you need it. This ski isn't for everybody, but if you're the right skier on the right day, it'll make an indelible impression.

Product Details

Rocker Type:
Reverse Camber: Fully rockered shape with MAYBE a tiny flat spot underfoot supplies the expected primo powder experience, but this ski will carve surprisingly well from a centered stance as well.
Flex:
Stiffer Flex: An overall stiff flex means this ski is for people who already know how to ski powder and are more interested in charging it than a mellow surfy experience.
Sidecut:
Reflect Technology: Sidecut radius is carefully matched to rocker radius to allow the ski to edge smoothly and create predicatable carving in all conditions.
Shape:
Tip and Tail Taper: This is a big ski, with moderate tip taper and substantial tail taper. The result is directional stability at speed and slightly better tip floatation.
Core:
Indie-Block Core: Indigenous maple laminates with a poplar center deliver a stable even flex
Laminates:
Fiberglass Reinforcement: Fiberglass laminates above and below the core
Sidewalls:
Hal's Construction: A conventional sandwich construction without added sidewalls lets the wood core show through to the outside. This sidewall-less design provides superb energy transmission to the edge.
Base:
Sintered Base
Edges:
2-Piece Edge
Graphics:
Art by Eric Hjorliefson: The ski hasn't changed much, but the owl-in-Aspens graphics by Hoji are new.
Additional Features:
Enlarged testicles not included
Binding Compatibility:
Bindings not included
We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.
