Project 321 12x148 32H 216 POE XD Boost Rear Hub

Inside the Project 321 12x148 32H 216 POE XD Boost Rear Hub, there lie magnets. By using magnets to pull the pawls into the drive ring, instead of small springs to push them, this hub is more durable, stronger, and easier to maintain. Its CNC aluminum shell is guaranteed for a decade, and comes in a rainbow of color options. With angled flanges that are spaced to equalize drive- and non-drive-side spoke tension and be more inline with the forces at work, this hub makes for a very stiff and well-balanced wheel.

Construction:
CNC'd Aluminum
Features:
Magnetically Actuated Drive System: By using magnets as a pull spring (opposed to mechanical or magnetic push springs) to move pawls into the drive ring, Project 321 are able to achieve less drag and less noise than other high speed ratchet mechanisms. By using magnets in this configuration the pawl force against the drive ring is at its strongest when the pawl is fully engaged. As the pawl climbs the drive ring teeth during freewheeling the force (and friction) is reduced as the pawl magnets get farther away from the drive ring. This is the exact opposite of traditional mechanical push springs where the weakest point of the spring is at full engagement and the spring force gets stronger (creating more friction and drag) as the pawl is pushed up over the drive ring teeth during free wheeling.
216 Points of Engagement: 6×2 driver (6 pawls with 2 pawl engagement) boasts 216 points of engagement (1.66°).
Optimized Flange Placement: Project 321 designed their Boost hubs to take full advantage of the angles, bringing left- and right-side spokes to within 2.0° of each other. This makes for a more balanced and stiffer wheel.
Inward Angled Flanges: Minimizes contact points between spoke and hub.
Machined Oil Pockets: Hidden in the drive chamber there are voids which allow for up to 25 times more oil than competitors' hubs, extending service intervals.
Fine-Pitch Bearing Preload Adjustment: Compensate for bearing wear and have zero play.
