Material:
Oil-Tanned Leather [Concrete Rough & Tough / Copper Rough & Tough Colorways]: S.B. Foot Tanning Co. is best known for Oil-Tanned leather which is used to build a variety of timless Red Wing styles. This leather is water, stain and perspiration resistant, and has a more natural look and feel because less finishing materials have been applied, allowing its natural beauty to shine through. Oil-Tanned Leather is exceptionally durable and has been used to build countless work boots throughout Red Wing's 110+ year history.
Roughout Leather [Hawthorne Muleskinner Colorway]: Roughout leather is created using a reverse-suede technique at Red Wing's own S.B. Foot Tanning Co. While most tanneries split, thin and weaken the hide to create the rough suede surface, Red Wing simply uses the other side of the hide. By doing so, they avoid splitting or thinning their full-grain hides. This makes Red Wing's Roughout leather just as strong and durable as their other leathers.
