Product Info

The original undisputed ruler of the powder skiing underworld still reigns supreme. There is no question that the K2 HellBent Skis are the ultimate ski for floating and tricking through bottomless zones, but they are no longer content with just ruling the deep; the HellBent carries enough camber underfoot to make the whole mountain your playground, even after the resort is tracked out. Don’t like tracks? Add on K2’s Pre-Cut Climbing Skins for further access to deep snow missions.

Product Details

Shape

Powder Rocker™Designed for deep snow with the most elevated tip and longest measurement of rocker, offering skiers a “surfy” feel with enhanced soft-snow performance. The camber region still exists to ensure edge hold in firmer conditions.

Powder TipPulls the widest point of the tip further down the ski, which retains float in soft snow, and also minimizes deflection in adverse snow conditions.

Construction

Fir/Aspen coreSolid and dense woods known for their inherent strength and durability.

Triaxial BraidingConsists of braiding fiberglass around the wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control, making the ski incredibly energetic and responsive.

TwinTech ConstructionIncreases the durability of K2 sidewall skis by rolling the top material into the sidewall, reducing the angle that is prone to abuse, severely reducing ski to ski impact damage.

Graphics

**Please note that base colors will alternate and may not arrive exactly as pictured.

Additional Features

Tip/Tail HardwareRivets originally designed for durability now have the additional option of attaching K2 Trim To Fit Skins for climbing.

3.5mm EdgesThese are thicker and far more resistant to cracking.

Swap BaseSki bases are made with inverse colors so that less material is wasted

Binding Compatibility

We recommend a brake width that is equal to the ski waist width and at most 15 mm wider.

Comments about K2 HellBent Skis 2013:

This ski has been my favorite for years now, and I don't use it solely for powder skiing. The Hellbent is much more versatile than it appears. While it is the ultimate deep snow ski, it also excels in skied-out crud and carves very well on the groomers. But when there is fresh snow, in the resort or in the backcountry, this ski floats like no other. It is playful and easily maneuverable, surprisingly light for such a big ski, and also surprisingly stable on firmer snow. My favorite thing about the Hellbent is it's ability to jump, butter, and stomp landings in powder, either forward or switch. No other ski has ever performed better for powder jibbing. This ski turns the whole mountain into your playground. And they are very durable, you can surely ski a single pair of Hellbents for many years.

This Ski is for those who desire to blow threw anything while having their minds blown. My mind is like a spaceship on these things, and launching into space is always an option here. If you are lost and need to be found, the top sheet is disguised because this ski is all that is good when it comes to ripping well just about anything on the mountain. Peace!! :D

      Hellacious Ride

      By

Comments about K2 HellBent Skis 2013:

Fun set of skis, they turned some spring deep into a fun run. I was able to have more fun and ski longer in the powder because of how well the floated and kept me on top of the snow. It was my first time on fat rockers. It was a stable platform. These rip the crud.

Comments about K2 HellBent Skis 2013:

Unchanged other than another cruel graphic from the design guys at K2. Skiing on this is just easy. You don't realize its 132 underfoot. Althought the tip and tail waiver in the snow on anything but the deep torsionally they are sound and provide plenty of stability even on the groomers. The little bit of camber helps initiate the turn and provide edge grip on the bumpy traverses out of the BC.

The graphics on all of the Hellbents are horrible, morbid, and violent....but The ride is well worth picking up a few stickers to cover them up. These skis are unbelievable on moguls, groomed, in the trees and best of all in the pow! They also ride switch great! I have skiied them on Michigan ice and in Clorado and Utah Powder and they are unbeatable. I can't even put words to how fun these are to ride.... YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Comments about K2 HellBent Skis 2013:

I only skied the 179 which was big for me at 5'2" but much to my surprise completely manageable. Better float than anything I have ever ridden before even in the super heavy wet stuff.

These skis are GREAT! They are unmatched in powder and still hold and edge on the hard pack. I used to own a pair of mid fats for hard pack, but there is no need with the hellbents. They are fun on anything.... I even beat up the moguls with them! Nice job K2!

Love the skis. They kill it in the pow and still tear up crud. Have bindings that sit real close to ski and gives them playfull feeling. great for bringing the jib mentality to the backcountry. Still reasonably good on groomers however sketchy when bombing because of the amount of rocker in tip and tail.

The skis came and man, they look amazing. But, in my excitement while ordering, I bought the wrong size bindings. Don't make the same mistake, or you'll just have to sit there and look at the BA art while you wait for new bindings in the mail.

Comments about K2 HellBent Skis 2013:

These skis are just as useful in crud as they are in powder. At 132mm these skis feel more like tank tracks as they roll over what ever gets in their way. The wide waist makes them super stable and fun to ride. If you've never had a pair of fully rockered skis these will take some getting used to, but its worth having these beasts in your quiver.

Comments about K2 HellBent Skis 2013:

Conventional Wisdom = Awesome! If you could blend old school carve forward stance with new School upright stance schmeer etc you would have a perfect pow tool right. Well its been out for years with subtle refinements along the way.
Want to ski the PNW pow faster than your buddy? Its called surface area which the HB's have in spades. You can fly on the surface of the pow faster actually carving the surface pow because of the conventional shape. Take pressure off your edges in the middle of a super g turn and schmeer or shut down to duck into a different line. The Rocker on the HB aids this as well.
Have owned and skied many days of pow on other great pow sticks but keep going back to these because they are just so bloody fun and deceptively fast. Had to overcome my ego about skiing on a shorter pow stick since of course all the really awesome pow skiers ski on 190 plus right... well I am one of those guys who has owned a bunch of longer pow skis and a 190 Bibby is my daily driver. I am 5'11 165lbs and have skied both the Hellbent in a 189 and 179. Love the 179. Would not own the 189...too unwieldly, floppy and looses the fun factor. Too many other great skis in that length I would reco like the Bent Chets which are money in that length (192) or my 190 Bibby's. The 179 Hellbent is like the Holy Grail in that model for most guys my size plus minus 20 or so lbs.
These are tools that excell on the Deep days and are too fun to ignore. If you can own more than one set of skis make these your Sweet Day sticks. You will be tempted to grab them more often than you think but it's fun to savor.

So buttery it's insane. Also the rocker allows for smooth powder carves, even in switch. (Which is something I had never done till these monsters.) their turning was surprisingly responsive and allowed for some gnarly tree runs. They are lighter than you'd expect and great for tweaked grabs. I played a 3 day game of Gnar on them and I was certainly "the best skier on the mountain."
