Designed while listening exclusively to Lynyrd Skynard's "Free Bird," the engineers at Black Crows intended for the Navis Freebird Skis to be to the skier what wings are to a bird - sheer freedom. Whether you're exploring the Alps, Cascadia's finest peaks, or spending your summer searching for powder in the Andes, this is an expedition ready ski that will still perform on a variety of snow surfaces during the descent. Featuring a lively, but not to stiff core, a 19 m turn radius, a rocker / camber / rocker profile, and an incredibly light build, the Black Crows Navis Freebird Skis are high performing free touring machines that slay both the ascent and descent.
Single Beak and a Half | 12% Early Rise Tail / 67% Camber / 21% Tip Rocker – Tip rocker with a touch of rocker in the tail provides easy pivoting and all terrain edge and turn control. Single Beak and a Half gives you the possibility of driving the ski "classically" from the front or taking a more freeride, centered stance approach.
Early Rise Tail – Long, flat, progressive rising tail producing a very light rocker profile. Increases pivot in the tail when flat while producing the power and carving ability of a flat tail on edge.
Freebird Gene 2 Core – Torsion box construction ideal for wider skis with tip to tail Paulownia/Poplar wood paired with triaxial and biaxial carbon laminates ensures optimal weight reduction while maintaining a lively downhill feel.
Triaxial & Biaxial Fiberglass
Carbon
ABS Sidewalls – Durability and shock absorption across all snow and terrain.
Semi Cap – Durable construction that retains the edge power of sidewall construction while limiting chipping of the topsheet at the tip and tail of the ski.
Die Cut Base – Mechanically die-cut base that is assembled by hand for ultimate precision. Stone ground 34 times for a smooth, fast ride.
Freebird Edges – Designed for touring, these lightweight edges are precise and durable.
We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.

Designed for hardcore fast-and-light ski tourists who demand simplicity and bomber durability, the Dynafit TLT Speed Radical Ski Bindings improve on the legendary Speed/Classic binding in several ways. The forged 7075 Aluminum baseplate simplifies the mounting pattern with 4 screws rather than 5, and it adds Side Towers under the toe pins for increased resistance to lateral shock and ease of stepping in. The heel accesses all skinning modes with the housing in a single position, and climbing height adjustments are easily made on the fly with a ski pole by flipping the Speed Step Climbing Bar up or down.
Radical Toe Piece – Cast alloy baseplate and forged steel toe arms with hardened pins
Side Towers – New Side Towers aid step-in entry and reduce chances of pre-release from lateral shock.
Four screw mounting pattern rather than the traditional 5 hole Dynafit pattern
Crampon Slots – Reinforced crampon slots in baseplate for ski crampons.
Alloy pivot post with polymer body and stainless steel heel pins
Release – Lateral and Vertical release both originate at the heel, and release values are set with separate screws.
Speed Step Climbing Bar – New design climbing bar is super easy to adjust while skinning using a ski pole.
Anti-Twist Device – 2014-2015 Speed Radicals include an anti-twist device that keeps the heel from rotating inadvertently into ski mode while skinning.
Toe lever should be in locked position for skinning.
Tour mode is accessed for all positions by rotating heel 3/4 turn counter-clockwise (heel pins face user's right). Height adjustment is done by flipping the Speed Step Climbing Bar up or down as needed. On the fly adjustments with a ski pole are simple and precise.
Heel should be rotated counter-clockwise to access skinning mode, and clockwise to return to ski mode (disregard the red arrow on heel top plate).
Tech Soles Only – Boots with tech fittings in the toe and heel are required for use with this binding.
Dynafit Compatible Boots – Boots with Dynafit toe and heel fittings are required to use this binding.
One Size Fits All – Binding can be mounted to fit all boot sizes.
Uses Torx 20 screws instead of PoziDrive #3 screws
Not compatible with ski brakes; Dynafit Guide cable leash included.
