Atomic Backland 98 W Skis - Women's 2022
evo ran the Backland 98 W as its primary AT touring demo setup this past season, to overwhelming positive reaction. If you're looking for a versatile touring ski to span the entire season (in the Pacific Northwest that means November to November), this is your jam. At 98mm in the waist and with a HRZN Tech Tip, the Backland 98 does just fine in fresh snow, and at 1,200 grams per ski it goes uphill like crazy, too.

The contact points on skis with this profile are closer towards the middle of the ski than a fully cambered ski, but still not underfoot. The cambered midsection provides a longer effective edge on hardpack, increasing edge hold and stability, while the rockered tip and tail provide floatation in deeper snow and allow the ski to initiate and release from turns easier.
