The 2-layer construction is breathable, warm, and waterproof, with a soft feel on the skin and a DWR finish for added weatherproofness. The Sentinel IS is a has the best of both worlds, giving you the added warmth and simplicity of an insulated 2-layer jacket, but retains the cut and style of a freeride shell.
