Armada AK JJ Skis 2013

Armada goes mondo with the AK JJ, with the same style and agility that makes the JJ so great, but longer and fatter to produce the most versatile premium powder ski on the market. Built with the EST Freeride Rocker, the Armada AK JJ Skis dominate deep snow and still rip the hardpack. The AK JJ pushes the envelope of big mountain powder skiing, and if you're going there (AK, that is) you owe it to yourself to have this board in your bag.

Product Details

Rocker Type:
EST Freeride Rocker: The best of all worlds. Rockered tips and tails combined with positive camber underfoot to promote flotation in soft snow and provide remarkable edge control on the harder stuff. EST Freeride Rocker
Flex:
Flex Pattern - Tip: 6, Waist: 7, Tail: 6.5 (1=soft; 10=stiff)
Slightly stiffer feel than the traditional JJ
Shape:
Tapered Tip and Tail: 5 dimension ski with the tip and tail narrower than the contact points
Dimensions (tip/contact point/waist/contact point/tail): 131/141/120/138/128 mm
Core:
Hybrid Ultralight Core: Ultralight core using select wood stringers that have unusually high strength-to-weight ratios, UltraLight cores allow our widest skis to maintain a light-yet-stable feel.
Laminates:
Laminate Matrix: Deliberate directional layering of fiberglass dictates flex pattern and torsional rigidity and allows each ski's flex to be precisely tuned. Bi-axial fiberglass runs in an “x” pattern down the ski to control lateral flex; Uni-directional fiberglass controls flex along the length of the ski; Tri-axial fiberglass, with fibers running in three directions, beefs up the center of the ski.
CK Stringer: Carbon Kevlar combo stringers lie on top of the laminate matrix along the tail to brace the ski. This increases the landing platform, especially when weight is distributed farther back in the ski than intended. It also gives the ski more pop and extends ski life.
Sidewalls:
AR50 Sidewall Construction: ABS sidewall meets cap construction – the best of both worlds. This engineering method combines the lightweight cap construction in the tip and tail with ABS sidewall underfoot, resulting in enhanced edgehold and significantly lower swing and overall weight.
Base:
50/50 Base: A blend of speed and durability, this base is faster than Armada’s S7 base but more rugged than the Comp series.
Edges:
1.7 Impact Edge: The edge height and width is deliberately smaller and the steel is heat-treated to a proprietary hardness to increase durability and decrease weight.
Binding Compatibility:
Bindings not included
We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.
