The Tour du Mont Blanc is one of Europe’s most iconic mountain bike trips, a full week-long loop around Mont Blanc through France, Switzerland, and Italy. Rather than riding from one home base, you’ll move from valley to valley each day, crossing high alpine cols and linking some of the best terrain in the Alps. Ride above Chamonix one day, drop into Italy the next, and arrive each evening in a new mountain town with your luggage already waiting for you.

The riding is classic alpine: rocky technical singletrack, roots, tight switchbacks, and long, sustained descents from high passes down to the valley floor. The week builds naturally, from an easier first day out of Chamonix to big alpine days with traverses near 3,000 meters (almost 10,000 feet), balanced with flowier days in local riding zones. Some hike-a-bike comes with crossing the higher cols, though routes can be adjusted to reduce it, especially for e-bike groups. Advanced riders will find most trails rideable, and intermediate riders can enjoy the trip with pace and route adapted as needed.

Between rides, it’s coffee in mountain huts, gelato in Courmayeur, lunch with alpine views, and a proper dinner in the valley each night. By the end of the week, you won’t just have ridden great trails. You’ll have completed a full tour around Mont Blanc.

ITINERARY

Optional - Pre-trip Arrival

Flight schedules from North America may vary. Feel free to arrive early, shake the jet lag, and prepare for an adventurous week ahead.

Arrival

Upon arrival to Chamonix you will be met by a LeRipp representative to greet you. You will have time to settle in and make sure you have everything for the first day of riding. In the evening, we will meet for a drink and go through the week's agenda. Optional afternoon ride in Chamonix.

First Full Day In The Saddle

The first day we normally start riding from Chamonix by gently pedalling along the valley towards Le Tour. From here we will ride a classic Swiss single track down to Chatelard, where we will be picked-up by the van and head up to the Emosson dam. From there it's a technical start before we reach the flowy trails down to Martigny. Finally we will head in the direction of Col Grand St Bernard but not before squeezing in one last descent.

Discover Aosta

The first trail starts right outside the hotel and takes us down towards Aosta in Italy. From here we will start the first big climb of the week to the Col at nearly 3,000m. From here, a high alpine single track awaits us all the way down to Courmayeur where we will stop for gelato and beer. Tonight we will be staying overnight in Aosta.

Traverse From Italy To France

Today is the big traverse day. We will be leaving Italy and pedaling back to France,  via another high Col at nearly 3,000m high. The traverse contains a mix of riding and pushing our way to the top. From here we will be descending down to Bourg Saint Maurice, where you will be staying the night.

Hot Laps, Big Views

We will spend this morning lapping Les Arcs Rocky landscape then heading for a high ridgeline ride above Beaufort, where we will stay the night.

Final Laps, Celebratory Toasts

A quick warm up lap or two in Beaufort before shuttling up to Col Du Joly, where we will be riding down to Les Contamines. From here we will head off to ride some classic local Chamonix trails, ending the trip with some apres-bike drinks in the centre of town! Stay one final night in Chamonix.

Location Details

Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe, towers over the borders of France, Italy, and Switzerland, surrounded by glaciers, granite spires, high alpine passes, and old stone villages. Starting in Chamonix, the route loops through all three countries, from espresso and gelato in Courmayeur to the quiet chalet towns of the Swiss valleys, making the Tour du Mont Blanc as much a cultural journey as a riding one.
