Union's Split System is easy to mount and ride (with no need for 3rd party pucks) and designed to minimize the amount of time spent converting from climb mode to ride mode so you can focus on the fun parts of touring where you actually ride downhill. Plus, a responsive Force EXP highback with Quick Flip forward lean adjust makes it easy to dial in a custom ride. Tour Mode:
Split Pin System: By combining the standard pin system with the Split System baseplate, Union increases the amount of connection between board and binding. Just one pin changes the mode and locks it into place.
Touring Mode: For touring, the binding slides into the climbing cradle and is locked into place with the pin.
Quick Flip Heel Ladder
Ride Mode:
Riding Mode: For riding, the binding slides onto the baseplate which rotates over the center of the board. The pin slides the through the middle of the baseplate for maximum connection.
Baseplate:
Duraflex ST SP1 Base: Once injected with Duraflex ST Nylon, SP1 Expedition base becomes an even stiffer, backcountry access machine. Developed and rigorously tested by non other than Travis Rice and Bryan Iguchi.
Synthetic EVA 3.0 Bushings: Shock absorbing synthetic bushings are durable and an outstanding compliment for the smooth, natural ride of the SP1 base. New for 18/19 is the application of Non-Stick™ coating to Union EVA dampening systems. Gone are the days of getting ice buildup on your footbeds and highbacks.
Extruded 3D Aluminum Heelcup: The rigidity and strength of Extruded Aluminum acts like a roll cage on a race car - stiffening the entire chassis. The male/female connection with the base provides seamless response.
Straps:
Forma Ankle Strap: New and improved, the design of the Forma Ankle Strap produces strength and rapid response on the outside, fit and pillowed comfort on the inside.
Ultragrip Toe Straps: Multi-positional options and thermoplastic anti-slip material keeps you locked in and on point.
Buckles:
Magnesium 3.0: The evolution of Union's proven bombproof ratchet system, the Magnesium 3.0 is a lighter and more sleek upgrade.
Highback:
Force EXP Highback: This responsive highback is light and durable for a premium splitboarding experience.
Quick Adjust Forward Lean: Easily adjust the forward lean on the binding to dial in a custom ride.
Compatibility:
Quiver Compliant: If you have a quiver of decks (split and non-split) just mount the Union Split System disc on each one. You can swap the Expedition bindings between each board quickly and efficiently.
Split Disk: Compatible with Voile pattern and 4x2 DIY.
Additional Features:
Quick FLAD and Ladder: When it's time to switch your bindings to climb mode, the most comfortable option is lowering your forward lean adjuster to decrease the highback angle for the ascent. Featuring just a one-turn adjuster and quick flip ladder these changes happen with minimal effort.
