A stiffer version of the Rip 'N' Flip Highbacks, paired with new Pillow Line Straps to lock you in, make the Surge the right choice for aggressive riding. It still features all of Spark's tricks for touring, including the Whammy Bar for quick heel height adjustment, the Tesla T1 System for a pin-free transition (no more fumbling, frozen fingers), and the tool-less Forward Lean Adjuster for customizable lean and improved range of motion in the skintrack. Tour Mode:
Tesla T1 System: Bindings slide sideways into the touring bracket and are locked into place with a simple snap ramp. Integrated mounting claws for Spark Ibex crampon mean easy installation and removal.
Whammy Bar: A single fatty wire with a side arm lever for quick heel height change. switches easily from stowed, to low (12°), to high (18°) climbing positions and back again while touring.
Baseplate:
CNC Machined with Maximum Cutouts: For weight saving while maintaining strength and performance.
Puck Access Through the Bindings: For on-the-go stance adjustment.
Straps:
Pillow Line Straps: Thin, one-piece molded construction gives a conformed fit, while thicker ribs provide an agile, responsive flex and are completely waterproof. Toe strap is designed as a toe cap but also fits across the top of the boot. Completely waterproof.
Buckles:
Industry Leading Burton Buckles
Thermoplastic Materials: Produced in-house and maintain flex over a wide temperature range.
Highback:
Rip 'N' Flip Highbacks: Built from 3D scans of popular splitboard boots, with an increased glass content for increased strength and response and 30% drop in weight from the classic highback.
Forward Lean Adjuster: Tool free toggle transitions quickly from -13° in tour mode, to ride mode with complete customization from 0°-22°.
Stiff Flex: For more aggressive, bigger riders.
Compatibility:
Puck Compatibility: Compatible with regular or canted Spark Pucks or Voile pucks. Slide them on and snap the ramp down. Snap the ramp up and slide them off. The most functional way to attach your binding to your board in ride mode. Period. Spark R&D bindings are designed to work with all puck compatible splitboard models. New for this season, Spark R&D is offering a 3° canted puck option.
