Black Diamond Helio 105 Skis 2018

Hold on to your trucker hats and micro-puffs, ladies and gents, the all new Black Diamond Helio 105 Skis have finally landed. These ultra-light, wide-waisted, tip and tail rockered skis are built with the backcountry, high-alpine enthusiast in mind. A feather light balsa flax core is reinforced with a full weave of carbon and rubber integrated in the sidewalls for a damp, torsionally stiff ride in a lightweight package. Once you get your Kinco-clad paws on these skis, you'll be well on your way to record-breaking hikes, and still have enough ski to really open it up on the way down. Ski free, walk far, and glide uphill without skipping a beat on the Black Diamond Helio 105 Skis.

Product Details

Rocker Type:
Early Rise Tip and Tail: Heavy dose of tip rocker with a less aggressive rise in the tail.
Traditional Camber Underfoot: Smooth downhill performance and added purchase on the skin track.
Flex:
Balanced Flex
Core:
Balsa Flax Wood Core: Ultralight and engineered for backcountry travel.
Laminates:
Pre-Preg Carbon Fiber Layup: Offers torsional stiffness and balanced flex.
Titanal Mounting Plate: A high-strength metal plate is embedded underneath the composite layer to ensure that binding screw retention is never a concern. This plate also serves to increase torsional stiffness and provides a solid foundation underfoot.
Sidewalls:
5 mm Beveled ABS Sidewalls: Creates torsional stiffness and adds grip.
Sidewall Damping System: To bring the dampness of a freeride ski to a lightweight backcountry construction, Black Diamond employed a layer of rubber in the sidewalls of the ski slightly behind the contact point. This innovative construction greatly reduces chatter in firmer conditions and allows BD to forgo the use of metal in the layup.
Additional Features:
ABS Tail Protector: With integrated skin-clip tab allows for simple and quick transitions.
Binding Compatibility:
We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.
