Blizzard Zero G 95 Skis 2020

The original Zero G 95 is a hard act to follow. Literally thousands of experienced backcountry skiers have adopted it as their tool of choice beacause it features perhaps the best combination of light weight and confidence-inspiring performance in the lightweight touring segment. These same people have been waiting anxiously to see how this re-design of the Zero G compares. We needn't have worried - Blizzard has retained almost all of the grip and precision of the original version while slightly lessening the amount of Carbon Drive coverage and slightly shortening the length of the sidewalls. They've also increased the rocker a bit at the tip and beveled the top sheet edges more. These changes give the new Zero G 95 a slightly more forgiving personality both starting and finishing turns and provide a bit better soft snow performance without losing the character people loved in the original. Another bonus of the new design is that most skiers won't feel the need to de-tune the skis straight out of the wrapper, which was common before. Another winner for Blizzard, and we expect the new Zero G 95 to maintain it's place at the top of the backcountry heap this season.

Product Details

Rocker Type

Rocker Camber RockerSki profile with rocker at the tip and tail, camber in the middle. Reducing the pressure on the edge at the tip and tail makes the ski even easier to handle and increases flotation on powder snow. The camber guarantees great grip on packed snow.

Core

Ultra-Lightweight Paulownia Woodcore

Carbon Flipcore TechnologyA revolutionary rockered ski production process that incorporates a uni-directional carbon frame onto the core of the ski that results in great performance with a light and easy feel.

Laminates

Carbon Drive 2.0The integration of a 3D uni-directional carbon fiber frame with an ultra-lightweight paulownia woodcore construction allows Blizzard to reduce the weight in the ski while providing structure for performance. The carbon frame’s 3D geometry guarantees optimal flex and torsional rigidity. The result is a level of stability, edge grip and control unprecedented in the world of ski mountaineering.

Carbon ReinforcedTwo edge to edge layers of bi-directional carbon fiber are positioned in the binding mounting areas to improve binding retention and torsional strength.

Sidewalls

Sandwich Compound SidewallAll Blizzard skis with the exception of some junior skis are built with ABS or Phenol sidewalls for superior performance (stability, power transmission, handling) and durability.

Base

Sintered Graphite Base

Binding Compatibility

We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.

G3 Ion 12 Alpine Touring Ski Bindings 2022

A staff favorite at evo, the G3 Ion 12 Alpine Touring Ski Bindings combine low weight, reliable performance, and a relatively flat ramp angle that closely matches the stance of most alpine binding setups. The result is low trauma conversion between alpine and AT gear, and less apprehension about moving to lighter gear in challenging snow and terrain. Add an easy to access slot under the toe arms that can be cleared using your ski pole, heel lifters that function equally well with the heel turned clockwise or counter clockwise, and easy Pozidrive #3 adjustment of all release value and boot sole length variables and you've got the recipe for backcountry bliss.
